I have taken to wedging a fan at the window blowing inside. Takes the cooler air from outside, and blows it into my bedroom. Works best at night (when outside is cooler than inside:wink:)

If your bedroom is south or west facing, then don't pull back the curtains in the morning. They will act like shutters to stop the room getting too hot during the day.

I have a Dyson Air Multiplier. Amazing beast.

And my double glazing has some sort of UV repellant in it, so I actually have a cooler bedroom by keeping the windows closed during the day.

If that fails, a couple of ice cubes up the jacksy usually does the trick.

a cold shower before bed

This will make the problem worse. A cold shower will cause your body to 'store' as much heat as it can - actually making you feel hotter pretty much as soon as you have dried yourself off.

A warm (not hot) shower would be more effective.

Shave your scalp, most heat escapes through the top of your head. Kills two birds with one stone :)

Obviously you are joking but in actual fact you don't lose any more heat from the top of your head than any other part of you rbody if it was uncovered.
