I thought Hoskins did well, give him time and a run of games and i believe the goals will come. He was getting in good positions to get onto the end of those chances and on another day he could have had a hat-trick, give him time and he will score goals .

Getting on his back after a couple of games doesn't help him or ultimately us in the long term, most strikers have lean spells (Murray at Palace last season, Kurt Nogan went 20 without scoring yet Hoskins has hardly played and hasn't reallly had the chance to settle and for the rest of the team to work with him to create good chances for him to score from) Patience and support from the fans is key to getting the best from our players.

Absolutely not good enough.

Can we please GET RID.

Not even close to being the striker to score the goals to take the Albion to the Premier League.

Please, please, please Gus - GET RID!!!!

3 or 4 starts, shit loads of injuries and a dire loan spell in the league below.

Absolute joke of a signing

Agreed. Absolute JOKE of a signing.

Please lets get someone in that (a) has decent ability (and) (b) has a half decent amount of talent.

I thought it was behind him so that's why he went for the kick.

Might have been this was only what I saw and then on the highlights in the stadium later. Will be watching out for it on the extended highlights.

If his athletic volley attempt had gone in, it would have been one of my favourite goals ever. As I remember it, the ball was hit from the left across field, back across field from the right, then back across to Buckley at the far post to hit back across the box to Hoskins. Such zigzaggyness would have me giddy with delight.

How on earth do people expect him to head that... the ball was well behind him. If he didn't try the scissor kick the ball would have passed behind him to a defender, and you'd all be saying it was a poor lay-off. He's basically getting stick for the fact that he tried something flamboyant.

He was outstanding yesterday, shame about the missed attempts on goal. Just maybe is he gets one he could be a real star for us.

Looks a good player, but like EVERYONE else in our squad, just has no finish.

Perhaps get bring in a coach who specialises in finishing training??
Was thinking that myself. Do our strikers practice in front of goal, it certainly does'nt look like it. It would appear that we concentrate too much on the defence not conceeding rather the the strikers scoring and while I am having a mini rant WHY does Gordon Greer bother going up for free kicks and corners, he never wins a thing, but then neither do our forwards so we probably don't practice them either. It is no good keeping clean sheets if you don't score and it certainly won't get you promoted. 6 home wins since last March is not good enough. RANT OVER

The two most relevant posts on this subject give him some games and he will come good and grab the goal chances.

I like what I have seen of Hoskins since he has come back and I think he will start nicking goals. I think Poyet should stick with him for a few more games. Not sure he will though as similar situation to Dobbie who despite scoring still couldnt keep a place in the team.

Dropping Hoskins to the bench against Millwall I think could / would be a damaging decision.

Judging by Poyets comments after the game wouldnt suprise me if he does change it though

What concerned me more than his poor finishing was that missing those chances really affected his confidence and it seemed to get to him.

That chance in the second half from a rare good Lopez set-piece was awful and he was substituted soon after.

We so badly need an early goal in these home games or everyone starts snatching at them.
