It won't happen but I really do think that Vincente should start at Wrexham. If he is fit it would be better to start with him and see how he goes you can always take him off if it's not working out.

Also I think that he must have something to prove to Gus, the club and us the fans, his season starts right here and right now, wheel him out it will be make or break time.

It was the scarlet pimpernel warming up today with the black wooly hat on wasn't it ?

Assuming this to be the case, did anyone else notice Poyet appearing to be having a chat with him about going on with about 10 minutes to go. Poyet seemed to be suggesting he get ready before he wagged a finger at Vicente and then shrugged his shoulders. Vicente remained seated throughout the exchange. Could well have been talking about something completely different. Probably something and nothing and just my over active imagination as a result of Poyet's recent statements and the feeling most of us have that Vicente doesn't appear to be too eager to play. To be fair, Poyet wasn't getting overheated and I'd imagine if Vicente had said he didn't want to come on Poyet would have got very animated. Just wondered if anyone else noticed it ?

Poyet said in his post match interview that "the plan was to give (Vicente) 30 minutes" but with early injuries to CMS and JFC and with Calderon and Vincelot not 100% after injuries he couldn't take the risk - maybe that is what he was explaining?

The point of not playing him from the start on Tuesday? Very high risk of injury on a lumpy pitch - a much higher risk for a player who is coming back from a relatively long term injury. What we all want is a fit Vicente contributing to as many games as he can in the run-in to the end of the season and that means managing the situation sensibly if there is to be any chance of seeing his skills in play.

Ok, thanks. Probably explains it better than what I'm reading into it. I'd like to think then that Vincente was perhaps asking to come on and Poyet shrugging his shoulders was in response to the pre match plan you mention that went out of the window due to the injuries.

I think vicente, harley & painter are certain starters other than that I think he will use the development squad.

My take also.

As soon as JFC followed CMS to the changing room there was sadly no chance of Vicente or any other sub coming on other than Casper. Gus will always keep his goalkeeping sub. as an option.

Gus has a game plan and his major priority is to ensure that we stay in this division.

Player availability and high wages means that it is unlikely that we are going to be able to bring in too many players in the transfer window, so it is important that we keep a few players in reserve for when we need them.

I am sure that Gus sees Vicente as one of those players who he can call on when the chips are down.

My previous comments were a little tongue in cheek, but the gist of the situation remains the same, and its unlikely that Vicente will be risked in the FA Cup.

Can't see Vicente playing a part in the Wrexham game. I think we'll play a much stronger team this time. I'll go for

Brezovan

Calderon
Hall
El Abd
Vincelot

Sparrow
Bridcutt
Navarro
Buckley

Hoskins
Barnes

Subs: Ankergren, Sampayo, Dunk, Harley, Rodgers, CMS, Agdestein.

looks pretty good .....but I would like to have Vicente playing at Wrezham some time in the game

I think Mr Bloom will pick the side and tell Gus to field his best team, then maybe Gus will get a few extra bob to spend in the market.

I really isn't rocket science pick the best available side and win the game.

There is zero chance of Vicente playing against Wrexham...When JFC came off yesterday Vicente was the obvious replacement, why he didn't come on is anyone's guess. My bet is Gus is saving him for Palace or Newcastle(if we beat Wrexham)...If he doesn't start in either of them games then he never will....Still think he is a total waste of club funds that would be better spent on other areas...Two stints of sitting on the bench and having a jog up the line does not mean anything.

With both lads back in the squad today, surely they must start at Wrexham on Tuesday night to give them the game time they need to get to full match sharpness ?

Was very impressed with Hoskins today BTW, think of what he could achieve when fully up to match fitness / sharpness !!!

seeing that on S4C with welsh commentary will make my evening.

What is the point of Vicente then, we can't bring him on against City, we can't play him against Wrexham because he needs to be protected. What is the point. Pathetic.

Not a prayer we'll waste vicente's precious little time on the pitch free from injury playing a conference team. No offence to Wrexham fans. Surely we'l save him for more important games. Even though i'd love to see him playing, he's a star player. I just cant see it happening. Can't even see him coming on at the end even if the game is going our way. Just my thoughts. Could be wrong of course.

I wouldnt start with Vicente but would start with Al Abd in defence Bridcutt in midfield and also to cup tie him so as to stop a possible sale and Hoskins up front. In fact basically yesterday finishing team with perhaps Painter and Hall for Dunk and Vincelot with both of them on the bench, even possibly give Ankergren another game..

When vicente is fit he doesn't play and when he isn't fit he doesn't play, the man needs to bloody play regardless of pitches an the opposition.

He will be off anyway in may or june so play him while he's fit and try and recoup all this money he earns everyweek.Don't like high earners being wrapped in cotton wool:nono:

Hoskins has a chance of playing, Vicente won't be risked.

I mentioned this in another thread. Gus was certainly having an exchange with someone on the bench. This might have been because Vicente wanted to come on but Gus had already used two subs. I hope it was not Vicente's impression of Tev ez

Not Sampayo or Kasim as both were very poor against Wrexham and we need to win this game if only for the money. If a DS player must be played in midfield which I dispute it must be Anton Rogers. Although I would play Bridcutt and Harley if fit and have Vicente on the bench. Play Vincelot or Calderon at right back.
