Horror foul in Austrian League

I just watched it again, and I can't agree. There is no challenge until he spots the keeper coming out, and then all of a sudden he flings out a leg. To me, that's both reckless and intentional. He doesn't intend to break the leg, I'm sure of that, but it's a shocking tackle and a truly horrible incident.

You have managed to contradict yourself there NE.

Deserves a lifetime ban and criminal charges as far as I can see. If you done that to someone in the street you would do jail time.

Bit unlucky that. If his foot isn't planted in the ground, he probably barely gets hurt.

Agree that the whole yellow card = no punishment rule is a joke though.

Bloody hell that is a shocking tackle and the perpetrator should definitely face a long suspension. As someone said earlier, if that had happened outside of a sporting environment, criminal charges would be brought.

Agree Sam - the fact the foot was planted made it worse. These tackles happen too often tho - but you gotta remember it's a split second decision so maybe a lifetime ban is a tad over the top. Maybe a 3 strikes and your out may be better - and i dont just mean leg breaking tackles i mean potentially very nasty tackles should merit a 'strike'

Meopham, Kent.
Trouble is, the attacker's challenge doesn't change whether the foot is planted or not, but the difference on the injury is enormous. I don't see how you can have a massive difference in the punishment dependant upon whether the keepers foot is planted or not.

Horrendous injury though. I can only hope he makes a decent recovery.
