Worthing is crushingly boring. It feels like a 70s time warp.

I agree...and i live there ! Its just so dull with dull people . Im going to have to get to Brighton , before i go stir crazy there. Next door is LAncing , which is even shittier and duller .

Shoreham would be good, and is the next 'big place' to live. By all accounts its the next 'Sandbanks'. Get in now before prices go up and up !

She said that she thought that willies your size were only found on action man dolls. So small!!

yeah, we worked that out though, I slipped on your Dad's strap on and rode her round your bedroom like a f***ing dodgem.

As said before BG,i remember that pub before it was in your hands and believe me it was as rough as fcuk.
I felt quite at home there though.

That is good to hear that we at least managed to get one satisfied customer.

The day I took over the local 'hard men' came in and p....d about and I stood my ground and told them they either adhered to our standards or got out. The answer I got was " You dont know who we are" to which I replied "I dont care this is my pub and will be run the way I want take it or leave " that was the end of the so called hard men of Midhurst. We had a great time there but sadly the owner sold it and we moved on and have now retired. The pub is now a pizza restaurant I think.

Hastings. Drove through it a couple of years ago - Royston Vasey by the sea. Everyone had a face the size of a satelite dish. We had to lock the doors - thank god for central locking. They had a shop called "Hastings Highland Supplies" which sold kilts, shortbread and other assorted Scotttish shit. WTF is that all about? Good for smack though...

Ok three places mentioned Hollingdean, Hastings and Lancing I am very familiar with. So here are my views on those.

Hollingdean - my birthplace. Must admit growing up there was not an 'inspirational' experience. A cultural wasteland except for the youth club and chip shop! Half of it is a council estate, with high concentration of single mums. Plenty of green space at the back of it (Hollingbury golf course - where I often hid in bunkers to steal the balls...sorry, it was peer pressure).

Hastings - I spent two years living there recently. Overall, I liked it. Has great cultural stuff going on, Green Man festival, Old Town carnival, strong fishing heritage, etc. However, parts of it are a dive. St Leonard's (next door) appears to be a magnet for druggies/alcoholics. Even during daytime, many a dazzed person (both males and females) are aimlessly drifting around. It really does have a sizeable underclass.

Lancing - my mums side of the family hail from here. Some live in the council bit, others in the 'posher' north side. I've always been 'scarred' by an experience I had in the Merry Monk pub one Xmas when I was around 11 or 12. An elder cousin, was introducing me to his mates inside and they frightened the life out of me. He then explained what he had done the previous night to the barmaid with a pepper grinder. Since then, I always viewed Lancing as being a bit 'neanderthal'.

And what was that exactly?

I agree with Harold, Hastings, especially the Old Town, has a lot to recommend it. Carnival week is well worth a visit, and there are some decent boozers. It may be that the pier is in line for renovation if they can get a lottery grant.

I grew up in East Grinstead and have many happy memories of the place, BTW I think that you can get Harveys in the Dunnings Mill.

As for Hailsham, the arrival of Tesco has ripped the heart out of the town. There used to be a really cool music shop called 'Jingles' which had to close down because it couldn't make ends meet. How many other small market towns have suffered this fate?

May sound stupid, but without bothering with Google map is Angmering in Sussex or just outside? If so I would say that it is by far the WORST place in the world. The average age must be about 91 and it is one of those places you just wish would shrivel up and let someone build a strip club on, before another call to A and E is made because Margaret has keeled over in 19 degree heat on here way to by some pickled onion's from Spar.

I didn't stay too long there, I was 'supervising' a tennis tournament at a school that resembled Grange Hill on morphine. It was all summed up as there was an alcoholic on one court at 11.a.m. It just reeked of depression, he was about 35 but was probably the youngest person existing there.

Angmering is well in Sussex - not even close to the border.

I've been there once, playing cricket. I got a duck, victim of the worst umpiring decision ever (it still rankles nearly 30 years later) and I've not been back since.
