Horrendous Stewarding Yesterday.

Yesterday, Block H.

A lad, around 16, got a talking to for having a go at that chavvy, 20 year old steward around block H. Southend had JUST scored, and he persisted on telling everybody to sit down. The lad said, 'they have just scored, for the money i have paid I'll do what i want right now, you mug.'

Fine, it's not exemplary, but what on earth did he get a talking to for? But this is what really annoyed me. As many of you H blockers will know, there were two really, REALLY drunk blokes at around row q, constantly shouting 'come on you *****', f*** off you bald ****' etc etc, throughout the entire game. They weren't even glanced at.

The stewards are either seriously, seriously poor, bored, or too scared to confront two 25 (ish) year olds.

:wanker:

Having a word with someone who was having a go at a steward for asking them to sit down after southend scored is "horrendous stewarding"?!

Well, it certainly wasn't the female stewards who are near H!

Except there were at least three by block H at various points. The first steward to come up the stairs in the middle of block H and ask people to sit down was a woman. Two more stood down beside the pitch.

Well, in a way. I mean, how many people each match have a go at them for exactly the same thing, in a far worse way, and they're left.

But the main point is the two blokes who couldn't stop shouting 'you bald ****' ETC throughout the whole match. That's fine, but what he did isn't?

Another 16 year old who thinks he's the dogs bollocks by the sounds of it. The stewards are there to do a job, and having a pop at them for telling you to sit down is plain silly.

I wouldn't say so. Southend had just scored, he was annoyed. To have some droaning voice saying 'sit down..' is plain bollocks. If he had used  words then maybe, but not for calling him a mug.

Why are people still shocked by this? Fact of the matter, it's their job to make sure people are sitting down. Obviously they are going to tell people to sit, they let us stand up 5-10 minutes after we score which is fair enough, but why feel the need to stand after the opposition score? It's not like they've just suddenly invented this rule, it happens every week and it shouldn't be disputed now, it's getting so old.

Everyone wants to stand, but it's against the rules and sadly, the stewards will always win in these situations, unless it's a big game like Palace. Don't like it? Go to away games. You've got a far better chance of being to stand there.

But why call him a mug in the first place? If I got called a mug for doing MY job properly, I would be pretty pissed off too.

I don't get how its an issue that Southend had just scored. If Albion had scored and people were celebrating fair enough, but how does a Southend goal change things? Only reason would be if you were giving it the big 'un to the away following.
