You want to know why we're armed to the teeth? It's got nothing to do with waging guerrilla war against a tyrannical federal government.

Remember, an armed population is our only protection against bloody, Haiti-style servile insurrections.

It's always 1850 or so in American politics, and the long shadow of Toussaint L'Ouverture falls over every discussion of the Second Amendment.

It's our guarantee against future Nat Turners.

Murica? Still the hics & halfwits who voted Trump will blather about their right to bare arms, precious 2nd amendment & all. Trumps reaction is no doubt on hold until the demographic of the shooter is announced. Won't be classed terrorism if ol whitey has merely had a brain fart.....
They might be able to use the correct spelling though, halfwits and their right to BEAR arms eh ?

So, what have we 'learnt' so far?

1. The USA is so way beyond being dysfunctional that there's no point even trying to figure it and its citizens out
2. The President of the USA is a narcissistic sociopath with the people skills of freshly laid turd
3. NSC on the whole is a good place for intelligent debate if you scroll past its few resident's lunatics' posts

Not much we didn't already know then.

This is turning in to the segment in The Life of Brian when Reg and the Committee are told of Brian's impending crucifixion....so we all agree that there should be stiffer gun controls or bans ?

My suggestion involves making Viagra and Cialis available over the counter.
Sometimes demand reduction, and not supply reduction, is the smart policy choice.

American historians have been mining this seam for a while. A recent example of the product is here

Worthing
To quote Ordell Robbie "When you absolutely, positively, got to kill every mother****er in the room"

Unfortunately the US attitude to guns seems to be the only way to control them is have more guns. I can't remember who it was (could have been Trump) but after the Florida nightclub shooting they claimed had more people in the club been armed then someone could have taken out the shooter quicker....

Or you know turned it into a wild west shoot-out.

Ah, the same as I think about driving fast, if I keep crashing, I drive faster, therefore, getting where I'm going quicker, less chance of crashing.

I know liberals(I'm not tarring you with that's brush) like to think Obama was the 2nd coming of Jesus, but if you really drill down on his administrations, I mean look at the cold hard facts, without a left or right leaning, he really achieved nothing, infact race relations were left in a worse state.

But lets not forget that in his second term as President, he had an entirely Republican congress shooting down anything the Democrats wanted to push through - it isn't because he didn't try, it was the repeated schoolboy antics of the Republicans that didn't allow him to.

its probably worth noting that you cant legally buy a fully automatic weapon in the US. though those from before the change of law still remain. a law brought in by that commie-liberal Reagan if i read correctly. as i understand it this chap has altered semi-auto rifles to auto. or he's been given autos by which ever government agency set it up f course, if thats your bent.

the thing about the pro-gun Americans, the people behind that cause, is they are holding on to their guns to protect themselves from their own government. they would rather people die on a daily basis than give up weapons, just in case the federal government becomes tyrannical (and many say its already there). they could rise up and overthrow, return the country to the original constitution, as the forefathers intended. which does have the 2nd amendment. no i dont get it quite either.

Nope. Every redneck has a right to wear a vest surely.
