Ear ache? A few drops of urine (your own, for preference) In the offending ear, and the problem dissolves.

Any one got a cure for acanthus?

Hay fever remedy - a teaspoon of local honey once a day for several months. It's subjective and anecdotal but I'm the world's biggest cycnic and it seems to ameliorate the symptoms. Still have a few bad days but not as many.

The claimed reason behind that at least makes sense at a high level.

Mr Mrs had it. Took about 18 months to clear up. What helped, temporarily, was stretching her calf muscles; standing on the edge of a step and dropping her heels was good but better was me holding her heel and pushing her toes back.

Did all that and more with the physio. No difference. 18 months doesn't sound good, but I've heard all sorts of times up to 5 years - for a postman, which must be awful.

Not really believing in coincidences, this Plantar cropped up immediately after I had major surgery last summer, but I can't really see how they can be related. Still, after having bowel cancer and kidney failure in the last 2 years, Plantar in both feet - even if painful - is nothing, really.

If anyone knows anything that works for Plantar Facilitis that would be good, I've tried everything my GP and physio have suggested and still in heaps of pain after 10 months - unable to walk pretty much.

Assuming you have tried rolling a ball under the foot - I found that one of those cricket 'wind ball' things they give kids to use worked well as you use the seam on the ball the agitate the foot.

Have you tried acupuncture? It isn't for everyone but I had trouble with my Achilles and acupuncture was the only thing that worked to fix that.

Tremendous home cure for the crippling ailment that is gout is concentrated cherry juice. Not cheap, small bottle is about £9 from Holland & Barrett, but works wonders. Mix a teaspoon of cherry juice in a natural yoghurt twice a day. At worst, you'll have a damn tasty yoghurt. At best, you'll have a wholly natural alternative to prescribed drugs to alleviate the symptoms. Medical sites say the effects are unproven, some think it may hit the same nerve receptors as ibuprofen, maybe it's a simple placebo. Whatever it is, all I can say it's worked for me and for a number of people I know who the tip has been passed on to.

For gout I will add Apple Cider Vinegar to the mix as well. I've been suffering a bit lately due to excess alcohol consumption (the lead up to and my wedding over the weekend).

I read somewhere online that Apple cider vinegar is a brilliant cure. The reasoning is that although the vinegar is acidic, once ingested into your system it actually becomes alkaline and will counteract the uric acid that causes gout.

A couple of weeks ago I had the tell tale twinging in my ankle that tells me I'm in for a few days of hell, I drank the 3 tbsp vinegar, diluted in water as it tastes ****ing awful. The next day I had no sign of anything starting, I wasn't sure if it had worked but the the last 8 or so days I've been drinking at least 8 pints of cider a day. But I've also been drinking 3 tbsp of vinegar three times a day and I haven't had an attack yet......

With the right exercises done properly, I'd be surprised if you didn't see improvements reasonably quickly. It will depend on your current fitness/mobility levels though I suppose.
