[Help] Holidaying in Sardinia

We stayed in Bosa , had a wonderful time. Rented an apartment in the old town, food and wine was lovely. We fly into olbia which was nice, qs we dont drive we then got a train to Macomer and a short bus ride bus to bosa though a taxi back was cheap. Loved it and bosa beach was sandy and to busy.

Have been 3 times to sardinia and once to corsica. I wouldn't go back to corsica even though I speak decent French. They don't like the French, or the English

Have been to alghero twice and cannigione neat baia sardinia and olbia once.

Much preferred alghero. Lovely walled town and great beaches and bars

Restaurant called Al tuguri did a superb menu. Doesn't look much from outside but wonderful service

Absolutely beautiful place.

Everyday we were there the sun shone and it was blisteringly hot. If you want to go to the shops or more importantly, the banks. Make sure you go in the mornings as a lot of them were shut in the afternoon due to the extreme heat and  siestas taken.

Even though it was a long time ago now we went (I was a teenager), it was a real stress-free holiday with gorgeous scenery and beaches.

Mrs.Punal and I went to Sardinia about 15 years ago and stayed in Alghero which is on the north west coast of the island. Our accommodation was a grotty holiday flat which overlooked a narrow side street, opposite was another flat where four girls were living. Their balcony doors were always open and they were in the habit of wandering around both on and off the balcony in the buff. Mrs.P was disgusted, I was intrigued - pervy me!

Anyway, it’s a lovely island and Alghero is a wonderful town with lots of decent restaurants and bars. The beaches are fabulous. Be warned though the sea is very cold which is surprising for the Mediterranean. Be warned, twice, there are a lot of tat merchants selling all sorts of crap who will disturb you constantly. Up the coast from Alghero is the place (can’t remember the name) where Mussolini used to hang out.

As you would expect for an island in the Med the weather was hot and sunny for the whole of our stay (August). I’m not sure what it would be like in the autumn, maybe cooler with a bit of rain? The real bonus for us was that we flew direct from Southampton to Alghero (and back). From disembarking the plane to leaving the airport by car took 10 minutes - double bonus!

All in all a great holiday. I hope you have a wonderful time while you’re out there.

Oristano made a fine base during World Cup 90. Good hosts and a lovely place to relax before mission Cagliari.

Thoroughly recommend Sardinia.
Went there a few times at Decimomannu, whilst in the forces.
Loved the place, the culture, the food and of course the weather.
Highly recommend Is Molas Resort and Chia beach.
Spent many a time in Cagliari bars watching the Italians strutt along the promenade.

I went to Bosa for a weekend once. Parked the car, dumped my bags and went for a drink. Hardly had we sat down when it started raining so we moved inside the bar. That's when the heavens truly opened. Sat there sipping a beer, we watched the road slowly fill with water and then it breached the entrance to the bar.

At that point we thought it best to make our escape. Wading deep through the water, we went to check on the car and found half the tyre was half underwater. Luckily, we'd caught it just in time and were able to move it to higher ground. The rain stopped after an hour or so, by which time the water was just about waist high. Total chaos.

By the next morning everything was back to normal. Nice little town
