Holidaying in Las Vegas advice

So many choices and places to stay.

Anyone been and got recommendations please.

The Venetian, is IMO superb.

Others will say Bellagio. There are some CRACKING deals to be had at the moment, shop around.

Be aware that if you get a big win on the slots you no longer get paid out in quarters – you get a slip of paper to cash in. Somehow takes away some of the fun.

And be prepared to dodge all the Mexicans handing out cards for strip clubs and hookers.

Agree about the Bellagio - it’s a great city – enjoy!

I stayed in the Bellagio last September, it's amazing. Think It was about £450 for 4 nights

Four Seasons was great, one of the few hotels without a casino, luxury and quiet and joined on to the Mandalay Bay so you can use all their massive pool area. Trump was also excellent, mahoosive apartment style at a good price. Got blessed by Elvis too - well worth it....

A lot depends on budget but a great middle of road and very central to everything is Elara

For food defo go to Roy's, Mortons Steakhouse, PF Changs and (on a Sunday) the fixed price 3 hour gig at back of Wynn

Get to the top of the Rio (Vodoo Lounge) for great views

Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley trips

Avoid the circus circus end of the strip (with some tall tower). It's like a really, really shit chavvy version of Blackpool. Makes Hastings look IMMENSE!

The other 3/4 of the strip is insanely good and I will deffo go back. Stayed at MGM and was amazing. Walk to all the other casinos and nosey around for lots of hidden delights.

I stayed at the Mandalay Bay. Massive and it has a fake beach with waves. Grand Canyon and hoover dam by helicopter is highly recommended and not as expensive as you might think.
Absolutely mental place!!

Stayed at the Elara last year. Brilliant 2 bed apartment with jacuzzi and projector TV. Little bit away from the casinos as well.

Hired a boat on Lake Mead and chugged round to the Hoover dam, amazing views.

It takes so much fun out I couldn't believe how 'sanitised' it made Vegas.

The Riviera is a little easier on the budget.

Getting around is a piece of wee-wee you just 'ride the duce' bus for $5.

The Grand Central Hotel and casino located in Downtown Las Vegas, might be worth popping along to, for a 'break'.
Vodka bar, micro brewery, sports bar, great all you can eat buffet, and away from the craziness.

Circus Circus was piss poor, but opposite The Riviera, hence it being a little cheaper.
Downtown beyond the Stratosphere has had a pretty big revamp, it can't and never would be able to live up to the other end, but did make for a nice diversion.

We stayed in the Tropicana which was being refurbished at the time and pretty drab for Vegas but a good base.

Whatever you do go to the Grand Canyon it is amazing beyond belief.

Vic & Anthony's steak house at the Golden Nugget (old strip), is the best restaurant I have ever eaten in.

Ghost bar at the top of the Palms was the best night out. View of the entire strip from the balcony is amazing.

Jealous.

A couple of things to check out at the Wynn: there's the Country Club, which is a great place to go for a bit if you feel that you're getting too much Vegas and want to chill out in a decidedly different atmosphere. And no idea what it's called but there's a lakeside terrrace downstairs from the main casino floor (west/southwest of it) which is worth hanging around for a bit in the evening to see the shows (just go, it's worth it).

And I echo what the others have said here: the Venetian is about the best deal you're going to get in terms of price Vs. room.

Gotta be a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. German pilot had the Ride of the Valkyries (spelling error?) playing as we sped along the ground at little over 50 feet above the scrub and it rose to a deafening crescendo JUST as we passed over the 1 mile high edge of the canyon precipice. (GULP)

If you think Vegas is good, its not, its much better than that fantastic place, go to a show as well as all the above, dont worry if your budget is not high because apart from the rooms all hotel facilities are open to all, i would rather spend less on rooms so that i have more to spend, the only downsideis that you leave wondering if you missed out on something that you never found out about, go to a club and old vegas, fremont street
