The wife and I went to Turkey latter part of last year, like you we wanted a cheaper break, in all honesty it really did exceed our expectations, it was very good.

Have English chavs ruined much of Italy then?

there certainly are a few places....on the whole though thankfully it is chav free

Fair enough - been to Italy a couple of times and hadn't even considered that I'd come across a load of chair-throwing twats in cross of st george flip flops. Care to tell me what areas they are? Only I'm considering parts of italy for my summer holiday and could do without all that...

if you are looking for a summer holiday in Italy with very few English, try teh Amalfi Coast...Portofino, Sorrento that sort of area...it is very Italian with a few Brits and other nationalities, but as we found there are a lot of Cruise ships that take that area in, so you get a lot of groups of nationalities. Naples area, pompeii, Herculeum is terrific , although Naples is not a particularily safe place.......lake garda...Simeone etc is really beautiful, but very expensive.....lake Como the same.

The Riviera Del Flori, which is around from Monaco is very beautiful and well worth a weeks visit.

if you are going to Venice, take a trip to Croatia ( lopud island, Dubrovnic etc)

Been to Malta for the past 2 years. No yobs or chavs but lots of elderly Brits. The Maltese love us due to our part in their survival during ww2. The island is steeped in history, has a pleasent med climate and is only 2.5 hours from Gatwick.

I did find it a bit of a dump though....lots of part finnished building sites and litter strewn everywhere. No natural beaches either.

Happy i've been, probably would go again if i had my arm twisted.

Er..... Shouldnt that be due to THEIR part in OUR SURVIVAL during WW2.

If Malta had fallen Rommel might have won in North Africa.

More bombs fell on Malta in 3 months than fell on London throughout WW2 Thats why they won the George Cross
