Way out west
There must have been forty of them atleast, single-filing it through the one door that I'm holding open. And not one of them, not one fucker says thank you.

I hope it rained on them while they were scoffing their picnic...I believe that is called Karma!

Most people seem to prefer seats though, so it's unlikely you'd find the standing area to be more crowded than the seats. Unless there is no more than about two people sitting down in a block of 8 seats, it's going to be unpleasant getting up close with someone. Apart from the busiest times (when it's going to be a crush wherever you are), standing room will always be most comfortable.

And yes, agree about luggage. People who do that are scum of the earth.

It seems to be a mixture. Trains and tubes are different.

You will find people more willing to stand in a train with spare seats than a tube.

I relish the opportunity to find a four seat table (on a train) absolutely free, but I am equally happy to find a seat on the tube.

Another thing that annoys me is the sort of person that barges their way on when not everyone has got off the transport. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realise you were so important".
