HMV to go from Churchill square

Been there since 1970. First vinyl I bought there was Star Man with suffragette city on b side.

The HMV store in Watford closed down a few years back, it was quite a big one too.
Last year, they opened up a small outlet, seems that's the way to go nowadays

Rents must be huge, at C.Square.

According to the Argus, it's closing because the owners tried to put the rent up & HMV wouldn't pay it. Not the smartest move if they end up with a big empty space in the middle of their shopping centre.

I worked there Saturdays/Xmas 1984/5. Sold a lot of Band Aid singles.

I reckon they upgraded the store to the size showing in your photos...either theytook on the place next door and knocked through or it's not in quite the same place ....only the store I worked in about ten years earlier was roughly half the size.
