Fing unbelievable. It's why I will not be voting for any of these clowns.

Agree. Cameron is clueless on this. Knee-jerk hysterical ill thought out laws. I particularly like the line about how the security level now implies an attack is imminent, but the government have no evidence of any plots. Go figure. The last roll of the dice from a government which knows it will lose the next election.

have we told France and Spain about our measures......incredible that a family of 6 (?) can drive through France/Spain in a fairly easily identifiable personnel carrier with English plates with out being detected, never mind the arrest warrant out for the adult occupants.........imagine the scenario if a vehicle came the other direction with a load of terrorists in it ??

Ashdown has obviously been reading my comments about a muslim civil war

""a widening religious war which threatens, not just to engulf the Middle East and change its borders, but to spread across the entire global Islamic community"."

Ad not a threat but an oppertunnity to get rid of a lot of bad eggs.

i dont think you understand what has been explained to you.

the threat level has been raised to severe(an attack is highly likely) from substantial (an attack is a strong possibility)

no one is saying an attack is imminent(except you),an imminent attack would only be implied if the threat level were raised again to critical

Go on then Tubbs ...... give us the benefit... what's your response likely to be?..... stop slagging off at every turn, those who are responding to this IS threat, a recent manifestation of course, let us know how you think the threat can be tackled....... for once, post an answer instead of an endless stream of questions.

So far, none of the exceptionally wise and articulate persons who have posted on this thread have said
- exactly what they would do in response to the "situation"
- how it will overcome the problem in the short-term
- any further actions they believe they may be required to take in the medium- to long-term.

It's a bit like making suggestions as to which starting line-up a manager should select, when he should make substitutions etc. No accountability or responsibility for decisions.

Brilliant.

Throw a stone up to the window of their ivory towers, might get a curtain to twitch.

So in August of last year David Cameron is trying to push a vote through Parliament for Britain to take direct military action against the al-Assad regime in Syria, (a vote he lost), and one year later he is proposing action against anyone who independently goes to Syria and fights alongside the rebels attacking the very same regime - must make sense to somebody!
