History of Relegation from League One

Luton's victory over Grimsby tonight gives them hope, even if they don't benefit from clubs above them going into administration.
Wrexham could easily make the play-offs, so could Oxford.

Paxton also doomed Torquay to guaranteed BSP football next season, although they also have a very good chance of getting into the play-offs (they're currently 4th).

His analysis also failed to mention that the 26 relegations in the original analysis include 8 clubs currently back in League 1, and one which plays in the Championship.

More playing with numbers: of the 6 that managed to stay up, half went down the following season.

All these numbers ... aren't they fun?

Promotions and relegations are all part of the game. I'd rather avoid relegation, but hey, I've seen a few in my time as an Albion supporter, and I'll no doubt see more whether or not we stay up this season.

Although that does look very depressing i'll try a good stat.

Good stats...well if i haven't been completely mind f***ed from the quantity of harry westons vintage I've had tonight and my memory serves me right, we were the SEVENTH team to get back to back title promotions, so lets be the SEVENTH team to go on this great escape list!!

Incidentally my birthday is the SEVENTH of April when we will be playing Hereford away, which i too will be attending and predict we will score SEVEN goals by which point we will have picked up another SEVEN points in total against Scunny, Tranmere and Mk on our way to survival!!!

There are enough coinseethingies in there for me to believe we can do this!!! *

COME ON YOU SEAGULLS:albion2::albion2::albion2:

*Admittedly i could be feeling stupidly optimistic due to cider intake and may have made alot of that up

As my birthday is ALSO 7th April I Can back you up on that! :yahoo:

figures, numbers, statistics, mean absolutely nothing, anything can and probably will happen between now and the end of the season.
I seem to remember once we were dead and buried masses of points behind and staring non-league football in the face until we played Hereford remember that do you,I have always been a glass half full guy but even I had given them no chance then.
So is there any credible reason why we should not be able to save ourselves this time.

Unless of coarse you know what all the scores are going to be in div 1and that all the teams in div 1 will be solvent until the end of the season?

Of course they do.

Does getting 9.60 seconds in 100m mean nothing? No, it proves you are the fastest person in the world. It's a number, a statistic, isn't it?

Does the fact that only 16% of clubs survive from our position mean nothing? No, it shows we're going to have to do bloody well to survive.

Glass half full or not, you need to take your blue tinted specs off for a second and wake up to reality. We NEED 15 points from our last 10 games, which includes trips to Scunthorpe, MK Dons and Huddersfield.

Do I want Albion to stay up? Of course I bloody do.
Do I think Albion will stay up? Based on recent performances, no.

If you think we can stay up, then fair enough. Unfortunately for us, statistics paint a bleak picture, and I think we are both in agreement, that we need something special to stay up.

Good stat-hunting DJMiles. The problem with ignoring stats is that there can be a tendency to leave things until it is too late, with disastrous consequences.

Example: Doctor tells morbidly obese man No. 1 to stop eating cakes or he might die. Man eats more cakes and dies.

Doctor tells morbidly obese man No. 2 that 84% of men who continue to eat cakes will die. Man No. 2 stops eating cakes immediately.

Greetings from a foggy Swakopmund...Gully is on his travels!!!

I tend to agree with what Steve Foster posted, the Premiership has turned into a bit of a Cuckoo...with all those below being the birds and eggs tossed out in order that the big bird might prosper, the prognosis isn't really that rosy at the moment, unless of course your club is extremely well run within its means (many aren't, but I really believe that we are under the stewardship of DK...for all his detractors, he is a shrewd businessman and for that we should be thankful.

Even some of those in the Premiership must be a little worried, if the grinning loon at Chelsea gets bored and pulls his backing out they will be right royally screwed...I could see them dropping off the pace completely as they won't be able to continue paying the wages of the current squad...given the current financial downtrend it is likely that football will be seen as a poor investment for foreign backers, the good days at the top may well be numbered and there will be a sea-change in English football...which may not be a bad thing if it evens the playing field up a little, there will doubtless be casualties along the way, but well run clubs (even those below us) may be the ones to survive and prosper.

what on earth are you doing in Swakopmund!?!?!?!?

Not very encouraging statistics, are they? Only two of the six teams that escaped started from a position of 35 points or less.
Bit worrying that people are discudding BSP teams though......I don't think we need to go that far yet.

we needed something special to stay up the year we sent Hereford down and found it ....although we had some players with heart then.

my point was that it can still be done.

and getting 9.60 seconds for 100m in this case can be discounted as a sprinter only has to rely on himself
