will he be an equivalent of a much needed centre back signing?

Once match fitness returns, i'm sure there is no reason why he won't be achieving the performances he started to put in before he got injured.

I'm sure with the additional time he's had to think about his game he may also have improved in weaker areas of his game such as positioning.

I am looking forward to his return. He worried me when he played at right-back, but when he got his chance alongside Cullip and then Butters in the centre, he was looking pretty solid.

The ideal would be to have him and McShane as a centre-half pairing long into the future. With all due respect to Guy Butters, he has got no more than one more season in him at the most, and his lack of pace is quite alarming.

Of course, this assumes that Paul McShane becomes a permanent Brighton player one day.

The liklehood of McShane signing is improving because he is now showing why he isnt good enough for Man Utd although he does have time on his side.

Have I missed something? What has McShane done wrong?

Great player and certainly doing a cracking job for us but does seem to pick up a few too many yellows. If he gets two more this season he'll be banned for 2 games, that'll be 3 in total.

If Hinshelwood is the same player as before injury, this will indeed be like a brilliant new signing. He is quality of that there is no doubt.

hinsh was a great player before his injury, definately stood out as the 'one to watch' player as we all love to say round here:)

At risk of offending Tank, but I thinK Hinsh and McShane would be a great partnership. I know we need Guy's experience but at times (e.g against Palace third goal) his lack of pace has been a bit embarassing. He will rpobably be okay for the rest of the season but come next year I think we're looking at Hinsh alongside someone (McShane if he's still around?)

Shocking a centre half picking up bookings.....whatever next !
And you cant put a price on experience at centre half, Tank has another year in him for sure.

Tank hasn't had a single yellow this season..and he's played every minute of every game.

Our defence is the 2nd worse in the division but if I created 3 seperate threads about McShane , Butters + El Abd then the majority of opinion would be how great they all are. Our goals against record sugests perhaps they are not

The only thing that worries me about Hinsh is his height- he is not tall enough for a centre-half

Nor's McShane which is why he'll never be a top class central defender, which I hope works in our favour when we sign him, ooohh was that a pink flying porker?
