I didn't realise handicaps existed in snooker.

Do you not get one point and your opponent four if you go in off on a red?

No you get no points for the ball you were playing when making the foul, but keep any points you all ready had. i.e. you pot a red then a black then another red. You then put the black and the white together.

You get 1+7+1 = 9
your opponent gets 7

So the lowest clearance is 15 reds potted in one go, plus yellow and all the colours making 44.

In off the final black and the clearance break is 37,

Along the right lines but the lowest poss clearance is 44. If you pot the black & the cue ball, technically the black should be respotted.
