Am I correct in thinking the highest possible break in snooker is a 151?

Theoretically you can score higher then that but only due to your opponent fouling so it would not be in your break?

Surely an opponents foul can never be incorporated into a break tally, therefore 147 is the max.

But then if you look at it that way the highest would be 154. :p

I thought the highest break possible was 155. A very unlikely scenario but if you were snookered from all 15 reds, would you not get a free ball ? The free ball followed by the black then clear the table.

147+8=155

The pot anything makes 1 point, as its counted as a red, black is 7, then a 147 break = 155

I quite possibly have a higher maths qualification than most of the people here despite being 17 - leaving cert (read A level) maths and applied maths, both at higher level. I can count :lolol: :lolol:

If your oppenent missed from the break could you put them back three times and if they hit the black on each go you would get 7 points each time.

Would you still get the free ball in this scenario?

We're now getting into the minutiae of the rules here, but I think you get a free ball at any stage where you're snookered for all reds on the table, no matter whats gone before

The only way to get a 155 break is for the free ball to be at the start, its not valid if you snooker yourself mid-break.

I refereed a league game that had the lowest possible score potting all the balls. It finished 28-14 on the black. Not one foul or colour with a red was taken. I got the poor guy a write up in the Eastbourne Herald as well! :lolol:

:clap2: :clap2:

I was the person with the highest (remember, low is good) pitch and putt score in the game where the current Irish record was set - 20 for an 18 hole course. I had 62 :(

So if your opponent hits the black from the break four times you would start with 28.

If you were snookered behind the black you could then get a free ball and then pot the black and then clear up.

This would give a 155 break to add to your 28 giving you a very impressive 183.
