And another thing......

Good Old Sussex by the Sea lyrics aren't needed on the big screens if they are being displayed on the pitchside advertising boards.
(having them on the electronic advertising boards for the people that don't know the words is more discrete and looks less tinpot)
Always amusing to see the words (ok, the word) to Hey Jude displayed on the electronic advertising boards. Altogether now: :Na Na Na Na Na Na Na...

Agree with that. Normally I hate it but it did seem to capture the occassion today. The after match was good fun.

I’m pleased so many Albion fans stayed and were able to applaud the Grimsby players and fans when they went. As Barney Ronay said, the whole day was very feel good.
It was, and I enjoyed it. The Grimsby fans were impressed that we applauded their team off the pitch.
As for the rest of you misérabilists, there were loads of people singing Sweet Caroline and Freed from Desire, in all the stands. It was a cup game, not a PL match, and people dared to make it a party. Oh the shame, of waving around some fish and seagulls.

Go and moan in your pints!

Imho.

Hey Jude, I love it, anyway it’s just the music element in a montage pre match.

Sweet Caroline is a shit song. Tony Bloom is a young-bloke, of all the songs in the world, why did he choose this non-rousing dirge? By contrast Freed From Desire is immense.
We are all different, I can live with Sweet Caroline but Hey Jude is a depressing dirge, McCartney specialises in them, Mull of Kintyre and The Long and Winding Road being just as dirgy too. Hate them and turn them off if they come on the radio or tv. Sadly I have my ears assaulted every home game with Hey bloody Jude. But it does seem to go down well with fans, especially away ones

I enjoyed the post match singing Fiesta though, Grimsby fans were great and a nice reminder of when we used to draw big teams when we were lower league and had just as much fun in defeat as Grimsby fans did.

freed from desire has its place but being trotted out every game . That song quickly becoming the new sweet caroline for being annoying and over done.

At least mix it up a bit if we have to have the speakers blaring post match ruining any naturally generated songs.

It's a concerning shitness that seems to be creeping in.

Sweet Caroline and hey jude every game. Please please please can we stop with this nonsense, just let the fans create the atmosphere, we’re not Brentford or Fulham
You think we're not going to be able to hang on to a top seven finish?

Brentford have been singing Hey Jude since the 70s so it will be very odd if if we play “their song” next week.

I suppose a bit of variety would be good.

Freed from desire is basically at every sporting event now. As was Sweet Caroline a year ago

If we can't manage variety, what about something specific to us. Praise you I thought worked pretty well. You don't sign it, but it's a good background to clapping the boys off after they won.

But yeh, do we need a victory party anthem playlist?

There must have been less than 5000 Albion fans left in their seats by the time Neil Diamond started up. :lolol:

As someone who goes to the Amex to watch the ACTUAL football played on the pitch, I can honestly say I cannot contain my indifference about what music, video, lights or any other form of 'display' they play/show before, during or after the game (as long as it never plumbs to the depths of goal music!)

I'd not noticed sweet caroline being played for quite a while. Was definitely annoyed by it's return.

The problem I have with Hey Jude is that almost all clubs supporters sing their team name to it, so it's a chance to encourage away supporters to get up and sing and support their team. It's too universal and helps opponents.
Ha. That's the bit I quite like. The battle to be the loudest 'Jude'.

'LA LA LA LA LA LA LA, LALA LA LA HEY BRIGH-GRIMSBY-TON!'

Brighton factually.....
If I never hear Sweet Caroline again in my lifetime it will be too soon. It makes me want to hack the flesh off my own face with a rusty bone saw.
This, we need something from a local artist, that has a connection any fatboy slim or Royal Blood, anything but contrived bullshite.

No one in the East can see any of those boards.
