If you want a good medieval day out, with re-enactment battles, jousting, falconry, etc. then the Herstmonceux festival over the Bank Holiday weekend is brilliant.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Went to Hever yesterday(got lost coming out of East Grinstead...think it was the shock of having to go through Surrey!!)

It was a really good day, although I wouldn't recommend it to people with younger families.

My 5 year old thought the castle was a bit boring until we reached the Knights, swords and torture equipment!!!

The water maze was really good aswell. Well worth a soaking if it's a hot day.

The only criticism I have is that there could be more organized events during the school holidays, like Jousting, but overall a good, laid back day.
