I never understoood that song.

Why would you sing the blues (generally seen as a sad, downtempo form of music) when we've won and they've lost?

Right....still makes no sense in the footballing context.

The original talks about singing the blues because something sad has happened (ie - his other half buggering off), which would be logical.
