Hereford fans might be bitter about the general indifference to their plight that year. But we are bitter about the way the FA treated us that season and the season before. At least Hereford didn't have the FA doing their level best to destroy them.

I'm not saying we weren't shafted from all ends using various torturing utensils, and we have a far stronger case in the 'who had to take it further up the Gary in 1997?' stakes.

Doesn't stop them being bitter, though. If they knew what what we'd gone through, they might be a bit more sympathetic. But only a bit.

It's also the fact that, on the pitch, we've thrived compared to them which only confounds their bitterness.

Couldn't get to yhe game due to being hospitalised for 6 months that summer after my bike crash!!!

I will never for get the feeling listening in via an old transistor radio my dad brought in for me. After we went one down i was just numb(to be fair the morphine helped a bit too) But when Reinault scored i nearly shot out of my hospital bed and got a right bollocking off the nurse.

I will NEVER forget that day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I left Hereford that day I swore that I'd never ever go back there again...the best and worst day of supporting the Albion all rolled into one.
I felt like I aged 10 years in that second half.

I will still not go back because nothing should take away from how I felt at the end of the game on May 3 1997.

i have always had a feeling of empathy towards Hereford, i was honestly pleased they got back into the league, it's a shame they have ill feeling towards us - it was an unfortunate situation for both sets of fans.

i have no doubt they will take at least 4 points off us next season.

whoop whoop.

At the sound of the final whistle it was better than winning the cup. It's one day that i will never forget. That could so nearly have been our last game, but it wasn't. I can't say that it was an unhappy memory, if it had of been we'd all be sitting here asking one another if we remember the mighty Brighton and Hove Albion that folded ten years ago.
I'm not sure i'd want to go back there now, some memories are best left to stay as special as they are.
I will never forget.
Stevie Gritt we owe you more than you'll ever know.

Quite frankly we could lose 6-0 at Hereford next season and I'd walk away smiling.

I voted no, because it it brings back more good memories.

Although it is a very very very very special memory and going back there may take away away some of that magical unique feeling, I think I will go back and look forward to doing so. I would imagine there will be a lot of Brighton fans there, espcially if its one of the first away games of the season, or... the last.

I went back for the cup game, kind of felt I owed it to the Hereford fans, and my magical memories of the league game are completely undimmed. It was the culmination of two seasons of high drama and emotion (York, Orient, Hartlepool, Doncaster, to name but some) and there will never, ever be a game to equal it.

Damn straight.
Even amongst my Albion supporting mates, there is still the "Hereford 4" - the guys amongst us who were actually there that day. Its like a badge of honour.

Lest we forget.
