Come on Tim. Remember that England went a goal down against Croatia but still won. I am getting sick of these people that would love to see Tim go out. In all honesty how would you feel if I said I hope England go out so I can focus on Wimbledon?

i'd say you sound like a stupid middle aged woman. shut it.

I reckon he's got this one in the bag now but if he plays like this against anyone ranked higher that 1,736,467th in the world then he may struggle.

if i was on a tennis messageboard (god forbid the thought) that's exactly the kind of thing i might expect to read. but since this is north stand chat it's kind of different don't you think?

Phil Neville has faded after a good start. To be fair Henman has also improved slightly.

Phil will be well rested to retake his place on the bench in Portugal on Thursday night.

Yeah I agree. I just don't like the stick Henman gets on here. But yet people from other sports, hardly get any stick. I just don't like the Anti-Henman stuff on here. I do go on a tennis messageboard. There are a good few footy fans there, but I admit it gets a bit of anti-coverage though not as much as the Anti-Henman stuff here.

Formula 1 is the dullest sport on the planet and the drivers are a bunch up their arses irritating twats with about half the talent they think they have.

Gridiron is utter WANK. Luckily it died a death in this country in the '90s

The worst thing about tennis is the chatter middle aged middle class women. My sister in law typifies this - she has taken Wimbledon fortnight off every year for the past decade and constantly bangs on about Tiger Timmy. She does go when she can though.

It's great that we're world champions and all that but rugby is a bit of a joke. Exactly why are England playing NZ & Australia? Who cares? We're world champions and its out of season. Just leave it. Playing the best nations about 6 months after a world cup is the mark of a noddy sport so rugby should leave the notion well alone and concentrate on promoting professional club rugby.

Oh and a message to the BBC. If you can't compete with your competitors for the rights to proper sport then show a film. Not f***ing ROWING.

OK sorry I admit I don't read the Formula 1 or other sports threads (because most of them are to me dull). I guess I am a too over-protective tennis fan. I will shut up on my defending on HENman. Sorry if I sound like old sensitive BrightonBird. I do not want to be another BrightonBird.

In truth I want England to win Euro 2004 and hopefully Henman win Wimbledon if he has it in him.

.

I agree a little there simster, F1 is pretty much at the bottom of the pile within motorsport for entertainment value these days, although still has its moments.

90% of F1 drivers are bloody fit and have more driving talent in their little fingers than you'll ever have, I guarantee you couldnt get an F1 car out of the pit lane without stacking it and killing yourself, it does look easy, but having the skill to drive on the limit and not loose it is something else, even in a little Formula ford let alone F1 . . .

90% of racing drivers are fit because they have time to spend in the gym. But "bloody fit" ? I think not. They're not exactly in the same league as rowers, cyclists, and yes footballers and rugby players. In fact, I reckon I'd beat David Coulthard over a 10k running race if he gave me a month to train.

And yes I'm sure they're good at driving - that's why they do it for a living. However, I have bugger-all respect for sportsmen who excel in a sport that only a handful of people ever get the chance to participate in.

yes they are, I watched a documentary thing on Coulthard a couple of years back and he's just as fit as any footballer/rower/cyclist. They shed litres of fluid in sweat during races and you need the body to be able to cope with that for 90mins or there abouts for a full length race. Coulthard could do 20k before you've even finished 10k! (assuming your not an olympic runner)

Yes I watched that documentary and Coulthard didn't appear to be *that* fit. And no, he is NOT as fit as a rower. That is bollocks. That documentary only showed him on the running machine anyway!

Personally I have run 10k in 36.53 although that was 10 years ago. I'd like to think I could do it in under 39 with 4-6 weeks training which I reckon would be fast enough to give Coulthard a decent race in his current condition.

I dunno about rowers but comparing him to footy players is wrong, I mean you get fat/chubby gazza types but you will never find a simular person behind the wheel of an F1 car...not in this day and age at least. There is bound to be a website detailing drivers fitness levels somewhere on the 'net, I'll make that my priority tomorrow for work.....err I mean NSC :)

I don't care what sport it is I'll always get behind the English feller.

I leave the slating of sportsman who have actually acheived something in their life, as opposed to just watching it, to sun readers
