Henderson deal OFF

Coach Dean White watched a striker from the British Isles McGhee has targeted on Saturday, while the Seagulls were upsetting Leeds 2-1 at Withdean.

Another forward McGhee wanted from eastern Europe could be joining a Championship rival and the deal to bring former loan keeper Wayne Henderson back to the club permanently from Aston Villa is dead unless his agent relents with his demands. The un-named Polish front man McGhee has missed out on is thought to have been offered a trial by Derby.

"We are at the bottom of the food chain," he said. "Some players we fancied are going to other clubs for all sorts of reasons but there are two or three in the pipeline we maybe can afford and if we can persuade them to come then we could see some new faces at Sheffield United."

Are we too slow at offering trials etc?.....once other teams are sniffing around we have little chance given our poor facilities and lack of cash

Wonder if the Polish striker was Piotr Wlodarczyk? Seems unlikely because he's a Polish international but he was on trial at Aberdeen and is set for a move this month. He's been linked with Aberdeen, Hearts, Wolves, Plymouth and a couple of Bundesliga clubs. Not surprising he decided to go to Derby instead. Then again Phil Brown seems to get loads of players on trial at Derby then rejects all of them as not being good enough.

Then again it could be another clogger who's scored 2 goals in his career with Lech Poznan.

How can we let Henderson know that us fans want him back?

Don't need to.If he wanted to come back he can.I would just forget about it and try and find players who wants to wear the Albion shirt with pride

Oh well not the end of the world, more important positions to fill.
Entirely agree. So long as Kuipers can stay fit for the next four months we're fine in that department. Come the summer we can have another go at getting Henderson. Or someone else if McGhee really doesn't rate the FDM.

You can cross me off that list, not bothered if he joins us or not.

I go along with that, the bloke knew what the score was here and if he wants an unrealistic wage then forget it.

The Polish striker we wanted is 30 year old Marcin Zewlakow. He played in the last 2002 WC for Poland scoring once against the USA. 5 goals for Poland in 24 starts. He's now on trial at Derby.

Kuipers, Flo, Martin, Sullivan. That will do for me in the goalkeeping department.

I would much rather we signed a striker this week than Henderson. We have a decent Goalkeeper in Kuipers and Chaigneau is not that bad.

I am pretty sure McGhee said the problem wasn't with Henderson but with his agent.

If so, then Henderson needs to change his agent as he isn't acting in his best interests.
Chaigneau will be gone at the end of the season and I'm not sure Martin or Sullivan will be adequate cover for Michel.
