Is he on 13 or 15 goals? BBC website and seagulls website saying 13 or have they just not been updated. If he's on 15 he could easily finish on 20 if he keeps his form up. Imagine if he hadn't had that bad spell.

Edit: soccer base says 15 including today's 2, come on tomer, break the magical number.

Time to give this one a bounce - put up by the OP at probably in scoring terms his weakest moment (one goal in 16 weeks or something).

Anyone on this thread got anything they'd like to revisit? Would those slaughtering the bloke feel in any way awkward/ignorant/stupid if he helped fire Brighton into the Premier League?

Nope I think you are being a bit smug after the fact - one goal in 16 weeks was a genuine cause for concern for all but the happy clappys.

Hughton is still probably discovering the best way to use him - given he scored coming off the bench against Charlton and today, there is still a case to be made that his greater physicality might be better employed against tiring second half defenders

He did hit a really bad patch of form where he was stone cold in front of goal so can understand why some were worried. Always like his overall game myself & seems to have added an ability to be more clinical recently. You don't play international football if you're shit - unless you're Scottish of course.

Here's an interesting statistic regarding matches where Hemed and Baldock have played together compared to where they haven't (expressed as WDL)

That there is a great partnership upfront.

Target men compared:

Goals + Assists

Hemed v Vokes
19 -17
Pass 71.1% v 52.9%
Aerial 2.1 v 7.5
Mins 2536 v 2849

Hemed is about the same likelihood to be involved in a goal. Vokes is better in the air, but that might not matter so much as passing (including headed passes) is much weaker. Andre Gray wins 0.3 in the air which is even less than Baldock 0.5 per game.

The big question is who is to partner Hemed up front, the second striker role.

Can we have stats v Buckley plz?

Buckley 20% chance of scoring. Shots 0.8 Passing 78.1%
Baldock 20% chance of scoring. Shots 2.5 Passing 73%

Wilson 40% chance of scoring. Shots 1.5 Passing 82.1%
Lualua 40% chance of scoring. Shots 3.1. Passing 69.3%

Ostensibly it looks like Burnley have cracked the problem of scoring with a pacey second striker (first Ings, then Gray) who can score goals.

A Gray 70% chance of scoring. Shots 2.9. Passing 68.2%. The nearest we've got is Lualua. (And Lualua can run rings around Joey Barton, did against QPR.)

Anyrate, the Master Plan says get Bruno to deal with Gray and he won't get a kick (of the ball: he might get kicked).

It's 13 league goals for us and 2 goals for Israel in the Euro Qualifiers. He still needs 7 to get to the magically 20 league goals mark. He's got 6 in his last 8 games so he could go close if he continues his form.

I must admit i was urging Hughton to bring him on - happy to admit he has improved dramatically. Still don't think he is a natural goal scorer and his penalties are scarily awful but credit where credit is due - he was the difference yesterday.

Hemed hasn't dramatically improved it's the squad and supply line that has.

Which imo is the issue here.

Hemed was on fire when the team were creating chances.
Injury put that on hold which the nimrods took to be Tomers fault.

Correct, although still think his confidence dropped during 'his' barren spell too. He never stopped putting a proper shift in all that time though. So pleased for him.

Couldn't agree more. I think he operates much better against tiring defenders, Hughton got it spot on tactically yesterday.

Naturally, but there wasn't anybody else who could play.

Tomer was the sacrificial lamb and plenty of 'loyal' Albion supporters couldn't wait to get their knives out.
