Regardless of the design, (which I admit should be forward thinking to some degree). I am proud the team I support are building a facility that would benefit people in this way. Yes there is a commercial venture but it is also a resource for the community which will bring much needed assistance to people who deserve all the support that they can get.
Let it be built.
Build it.

Is the design meant to blend in with the stadium as the Argus photo on twitter shows?.

The first is just subjective opinion.

True. But in my subjective opinion it's unimaginative and uninspiring and I therefore support the council on this one.

I agree but section 8.33 of the report to the planning committee suggests the club is digging in its heels

8.33 The applicant has been made aware of the concerns over the design of the
hotel and has been advised to present the application to an external Design
Review Panel both at the pre-application stage and again during the course of
the current application. The applicant has declined on the basis that having
considered a number of options, it is their view that design is appropriate for the
location and that the proposed design offers the best solution to providing a
building which meets the operational requirements of a hotel and limits the
impact on the South Downs National Park and the adjacent stadium, whilst
providing a viable development

This, rather worryingly, suggests arrogance from the club.

This, rather worryingly, suggests arrogance from the club.

This is 'planning'. The local authority very often try to impose it's 'preferences' and the applicant reacts by disagreeing with the demands made. With a bit of luck the councillors, who have to make the decision, will use their common sense and make a valued judgement.

My thought was that whilst the 'cancer' part of the application is to be applauded, it could appear as planning bribery, just a thought.
