If the lower/middle management are not budging, I would write a letter a day to the Chairman and keep writing until some sort of agreement is reached - fanciful, I know.

.

Good Luck, herewith a quote from the boss of Ryanair, if there's a nastier piece of work in the airline business I would be shocked.

We don't fall all over ourselves if they... say my granny fell ill. What part of no refund don't you understand? You are not getting a refund so f*** off.
Michael O'Leary
On Ryanair's strict no-refund policy, the source of most complaints.

I incorrectly booked a train fare on the wrong day with 'Southern' trains. It was about £35, three hours of phone calls to about 5 diferent people, before getting to a manager who said I had to write in. I two page letter and two more phone calls back, got my money refunded, without the obligatory £10 charge.

The argument they used was 'you should check what you are doing' 'we refund nothing'. It was actually a software cock up in the end from national rail, but good luck.

Ryanair are the company that is considering charging people to use toilets on their flights. Their chairman Michael O'Leary was talking about people standing on flights although I'm sure it was his idea or a joke. However Ryanair have fewer toilets on their planes to allow more seats. They are reviled throughout the industry as well as the press and media for their dreadful Customer Services.

I've flown with them once and somebody else paid. I would never use my own money to fly with them. Like anything cheap you get what you pay for.

I know with most airlines you can void the ticket up to midnight that day without any charges, I suggest they keep ringing and speak to supervisors etc

Annoyingly, nearly everything bought online is subject to a 7 day 'cooling off period' as part of some distance selling law or similar. This should give the buyer an unconditional right to cancel. The annoyance is that transport is one of the exceptions to this legislation

Agency rule, if it is non refundable, once the ticket is issued that is that. Only the low cost carriers permit name changes. If you so much as spell your name wrong you can loose 100%. This happens very regularly as most people with double barrelled surnames will get it wrong. Yes Madam are you Mrs Smithjones, Mrs Jones or Mrs Smith. EEER! I not sure (giggle)

Thanks for the responses, it as as I thought it would be. Only thing she can do is keep complaining and try and appeal to them, but as most people have experienced, Ryanair don't do refunds!

New for 2011 : 4 X £1 coins in the slot opens the door to the toilet and gives you 3 minutes to have a crap , once you've had a dump you then realise its going to cost 2 X £1 coins for the toilet paper.

Just wondered if anyone can help. My friend was trying to book flights on Ryanair for her and some friends and she had two screens open, one for the 5 people who were going (to see if there was availability) and one for her. She meant to book the one for just her but by some accident booked the other one. Now I know she has been a bit stupid but in some ways its a mistake that anyone could make. Ryanair say that she cannot cancel. The stupid thing is she didn't even input correct names for the other 4 people but they say it would cost an addiitonal £100 per ticket to change the names, so she can't even really use the flights without incurring a further £400.

Isn't there any legislation like the distance selling rules which mean she is entitled to a refund? Any ideas welcome.

Take out travel insurance for the 5 people, maybe with 5 different companies, then get them all to throw a convincing sickie just before they're due to fly? Or you were all going in the same car and it broke down on the way to the airport or something?

Or just flog the flights for £100 o.n.o. each on ebay to include you getting the name changed.

Don't waste the postage writing to Ryanair.

Ironically I remember talking to BCal cabin crew when I worked at Gatwick. They used to tell tales of travellers from certain African states who would crap on the seat as they had never used a toilet. I used to think this was just a myth but I've had Ex BCal engineers and pilots say the same thing. Food for though for Ryanair maybe.

Used to be the same on the Manchester flights. They kept trying to open the emergency door because they'd never used an indoor toilet.

Ok I'm gonna buck the trend here with regards to ryanair. I fly over to shannon once a month and sometimes book several return flights in one go to take advantage of cheap flights.

Having forgotten that I had already booked I stupidly booked again for the same dates. I thought like you guys that I've lost that, got the hump with myself and forgot about it.

BUT

I actually got an email from Ryanair stating that they had noticed a duplicate booking and I had so long to make a claim for a full refund. I called in and that's exactly what I got with no admin charge.

Was well impressed.

Booked on line with Monarch for a flight to Portugal, got to the checkout page and payed then realised I booked the wrong return flight. Back to the 'Home' page where it let me change my booking but cost me £60 to do it, and this all took about 90 seconds from when I noticed my mistake. How the f*** can they justify that, how have they incurred any admin costs when I rectified the mistake in 90 seconds, but I must admit Monarch are not even close to being in the same 'Shithouse' league as Ryanair.

Also is it just me or are they not actually that cheap - Once you've got your £9.99 flight each way then added on taxes plus the online check in fee and the credit charge card to book them - It ends up being a lot dearer than easy jet and in some cases BA.
