I had similar trouble recently with the letter 'N' on my keyboard. Just wouldn't work at all in conjunction with the Caps Lock key. Took it along to to PC World, where there one of their customer service technicians fiddled about with it a bit, sucked in his breath, shook his head and said 'Sorry mate, I think your big N's gone'

Type another character that you don't use e.g: '*' instead of an 's', when you have finished do a find and replace '*' with 's'.

Replacement keyboards for Samsung laptops can be found at http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/database_files/Samsung_Laptop_Spares.htm and there may be other sites.

Alternatively, I assume that you have usb ports on your laptop so why not purchase a cheap usb keyboard.

press down the 'alt' key and type '0083' to get an 'S'

Could be worse, a key on my netbook came off, it's so small and fiddly I can't get it back on

You can get replacement keyboards for the laptop quite easily and they are not hard to fix if you know what you are doing.
