Replied to Grant Macmillan with my LOD and unbelievably they have replied that they will not recognise this as it's a template, through the link in this thread although I did alter it slightly to meet my needs. There is a lot of good advise on the link below
ACS:Law copyright file sharing claims, Gallant Macmillan - and probably some others along the way...
oops had a rant. But at wrong person.
Honestly, I would not even get into dialogue with them. They are just looking for people to pay up, nothing will happen if you do not respond
Changing tack slightly (and at the risk of sounding like a complete codger), would you ever consider going into a Virgin Megastore and stealing this CD off the shelves?
What's the difference?
Got a little bit of knowledge on this, you cant actually get busted for downloading material but its the 'sharing' side ie. other people uploading from you. So my advice to anyone downloading stuff is to make sure uploading is restricted.
Oh and downloading is much easier than stealing from shelves plus you don't get stuck with a CD that you have to convert for your ipod anyway
Afraid that's wrong. You're committing a civil offence by knowlingly downloading someone elses intellectual property. If you do it as a course of a business e.g. sell dodgy dvd's then its a criminal offence
Legally, you are correct, but they do infact only go after people that are sharing these files rather than downloading
But doesn't this thread prove otherwise? Also my brother in law has recieved the same sort of thing after downloading an album.
