Bring a couple of push bikes with you on the roof of the car. Park for nowt in Mithras House park and ride. Cycle to Amex (10-15 mins max each way on cycle paths), and avoid the massive post-match queues for the park and ride bus. Easy

You could park at the top of Woodingdean and walk as there is a dedicated path now. It is a 30 minute walk though.

Hi Guys

Will be down for the game on Saturday - coming Friday and staying over - but want to make a swift retreat back up north after the game for a 10.30 drink in Leeds.

I've been checking the car parking options and I seem to be favouring Stanmer Park - I saw a thread on here that there have been some problems there; please advise what the current situ is - or if there are any better options.

As to the game - it depends which Huddersfield turns up; Robins seems to have finally found a good formation for us - we won the first 3 of the last 5 games then lost the last 2 - we should have had those won by half-time if we'd had anybody who could convert chances. Vaughan should be back which will be a big plus, but Lynch is suspended and that will be a big minus. Realistically, I think you may win 3-1.

And finally - completely off-topic - did anyone go to The Prince Albert last week to see Lake Street Dive ? I promoted their gig at the HiFi in Leeds and I'm just wondering what the reaction was to them down there. They went down real well in Leeds, but the numbers were a little lower than hoped.

If you're in Brighton, drive to Mill Road Car Park. Which is right on the A23. It's free and so is the bus from there to the ground (with your ticket). Do it before 2pm and get to the ground for a pre match pint. Sorted.

After the game, get out quickly and there will be a bus there to take you back to your car. And you'll be on the A23 by 5:40 at the latest. Good luck!

There is a private car park enterprise that is located on the A27 just a couple of hundred yards before the turn off to Falmer (if travelling from Lewes to the ground). I think that they charge £10 a game to park up there and probably have room for about a dozen cars but I never seem to be full when I have gone past so if you got there fairly early you should be able to park up there and then its a five minute walk between the car and the stadium and when you leave you will be heading towards the A23 junction at Brighton.

I've never parked there myself, has anyone on here and maybe they can say how well it has worked for them?

There is a great curry house in Church Road near Topolinos Italian restaurant, called Ashoka. I can recommend it.

It can get crowded in there. I remember once being asked if our party minded a couple of people squeezing on to the table we were sitting at. One of our group was an Arsenal-supporting mate of mine, btw. Feeling generous, we said "yes" and who should join our table but ... Liam Brady.

Without sounding all up ourselves/myself, I am confident you will have a great day at the Amex. It's a great stadium and barring a big prem team in the cup, will likely be the biggest crowd for you lot this season.

Last time I was at the Galpharm we saw one of the great half-time entertainments - where an Albion fan (dressed in leiderhosen, and having had a few) circled a mop (head on handle end) ten times at pace, then staggered to knock home a penalty.

The tricks are buying train tickets as early as possible & sometimes splitting the journey's tickets, & you can usually dramatically reduce the cost...( Yep, a soulie. One mate was doorman at the Va Va & another provided some of the records played there...it's as close to fame as i'm ever likely to get !!)

Yep, the advance train tickets thing is great - at other times of the year; I did it for Orient away and it got iced off, the same thing for Dagenham away. - so we had to go down midweek in the car.

So now I don't do it at this time of the year. The other thing that can bugger it up is Sky. You buy your train ticket, then they suddenly change the KO time or day. One year we had plane tickets booked for Southampton, then it got changed for whatever reason - knackered !

You can imagine how much I'm looking forward to Bournemouth away on a Tuesday night in January - at least the hotels should be cheap !

Still go and watch town when I can even after all those years away.

I would have to pay to get in the town end on Saturday as they won't transfer my ST for the daymiseries! LOL

Btw. My gran spend the last few years of her life in dewsbury, well ravensthorpe actually and my nan, my dad's mum died in dewsbury royal infirmary.

Indeed it would ! I'm familiar with York Brewery's stuff and it is pretty decent - certainly better than the usual fare offered at football grounds. May have to get to the ground early then as with a drive back on the day it will be 2 pints only for me - and none after 2pm ! but the beer and curry on Friday night will be welcome.

The Amex looks great and really looking forward to visiting it. At the time our new home (the then McAlpine) was pretty ground-breaking - but it's all been surpassed now .....

The main consultant for McAlpine's for your stadium back in the day was... Martin Perry, who became the Albion's Chief Executive (against his express wishes) for about 10 years and got the planning permission through. Eventually.

We've had 10 years to get our stadium right - and we're pleased with the result, so it wasn't all wasted...

And yes, I am aware that was because they were all overcome with pre-season hope up there, rather than because the Albion are such a huge attraction. Their home match against another decent sized Yorkshire club (MASSIVE, one might say) in Sheffield Wednesday, was about 10,000 less than the game against us, while the next highest gate after our game was in the region of 26,000, against (then) top of the table Burnley.
