are the lights flashing? Nav lights flash on Helicopters, solid on fixed wing.

Think they were solid actually and I opened the car window to see if I could hear anything but no luck. They were probably only 200 or so yards apart and both had the same red green lights that were close together.

It was a Merlin, green in colour so probably RAF

I spent 3 years at RAF Odiham just outside Basingstoke regrettably!

The Home of the Chinook and arguably the beast of the RAF!

A Chinook used to land in a field near Blackboys, nr Uckfield a few years ago, probably on exercise.
