A long shot by try looking at your "hibernate/Shutdown" section in Control Panel/Display....Apart from that may i suggest a virus scan...as long as you can stay on long enough!

Try starting your computer in safe mode. See what happens. It might be driver related or summat...

I disconnected the internet and it works fine its just when i'm connected.

I am running a virus check at the moment.

I'm guessing here that he meant that the firewall settings needed to be changed so that port 135 is blocked.

Then run the Windows Update program and instal the critical updates that it lists, especially ms03-026.

If you've got XP you should have been sent an auto-update by Microsoft for this about a week ago. If you installed it you should probably be okay. It was such a big hole in the system that it made the news!!
