Inter-Continental ( which is a junior title.) There was one called the WBA but I think that has been scrapped.

Eh? The WBA hasn't been been scrapped.

There are only really 4 titles that are generally recognised.
WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO.

Incidentally, you could argue that the WBA are to blame for all of this proliferation, as it was them who first decided on having a seperate Heavyweight World Champion, when Cassius Clay gave an immediate re-match to Sonny Liston. Immediate re-matches were against the WBA rules at the time, and Ernie Tippett (I think?) was supposed to be the mandatory defence, so he was awarded the title of WBA Heavyweight Champion, while the WBC stiuck with Cassius Clay.

Clay then beat Tippett to be undisputed Champion shortly afterwards, but the open door had been leaned on, and ......

I was be scacastic in that the WBA title has gone to nobodys since Lennox Lewis.

I think the man you are talking about was Ernie TERRELL.

Oh sorry, didn't pick up on that. I think it's the WBA who also have a strange rule whereby a Champion who holds multiple belts is a "unified" Champion, and they then sanction another fighter as their "regular" Champion. A bit odd.

That could be right. Not sure where I got Ernie Tippett from, but it didn't sound right when I was typing it. :dunce:

Most widely recognized 4:

WBC (World Boxing Council)
WBA (World Boxing Association)
IBF (International Boxing Federation)
WBO (World Boxing Organisation)

More lightly regarded:

IBO (International Boxing Organisation)
WBU (World Boxing Union)
WBF (World Boxing Federation)
IBA (International Boxing Organisation)

Those are the ones I know of, but there are probably more out there somewhere :)
