Now I have a HD telly (see other thread on how big is your telly!) I see there are not that many HD channels!! We have virgin so therefore I assumed Sky was off limit (for the time being anyway), but firstly what else is worth having and secondly is there a way of getting Sky HD through Virgin (legal or otherwise) without getting the Skybox which I don't want to do.

You have answered your own question about the lack of HD channels because you have Virgin. Sky is aiming to have 50 HD channels on air by Xmas. If you are only staying with Virgin because of the phone/TV/broadband package then Sky do the same at about the same price.

HD channel service is poor unless you have Sky HD basically.

If you have a 1080p HDTV watching movies on a BluRay player will do the business.

On another slightly O/T question - Does anyone know if Virgin will be launching any 3D channels. I am aware sky are soon however Virgin already have a section for 3D programming in 'On Demand' yet no mention if thye will broadcast 3D

I wouldn't touch sky with a barge pole. Nothing but trouble when i was with them.
I think you get a much better service with virgin. Not so many HD channels, but everything else is much better.

Sky are doing my head in with all their offers on HD why don't they just bloody drop the £10 per month charge, especially as I have been with them for years? Saw an advert for Virgin yesterday and sure it said no extra charge for HD so hopefully Sky follow that lead

Virgin have had no further charge for HD since I've been with them (just over a year)

My guess is that Sky will introduce a charge for 3DTV and make HD free.
