Sorry my friend. My experience was with Brokers and is currently approaching an FSA enquiry.

My problem is not with the Broking profession per se. Its with the fat cats who cats who swank about in London pubs in the evenings and boast about how much money they have made.

Heres is a little example.

"me and my mate made $80m dollars on the back of it....."

I understand your sentiment, however your example is a poor one!

That particular 'fat cat' has a long track record of bullshitting.

£ 1 000 000 000 in savings was withdrawn in the 24 hours before the announcement. The stockbrokers have played a large part in destabalizing the HBOS group and creating an air of panic and no amount of " nothing to do with me Guvs " and denials from the people trading wash.

The traders think they are superior to the likes of me, a menial mortgage broker from Southwick and Uncle C as they earn huge amounts of money, live in much nicer parts of the country than Southwick and drive Porsche Boxsters around the City and Surrey. Because I am a mere mortgage broker my opinion is not as valid as these guys on the floor and no doubt neither myself or Uncle C would have the intelligence to understand the stock market world as they constantly try to beliitle our opinions.

Still if they can make a lot of money on the back of a huge organisation going under and make a quick buck f*** the rest of us whose mortgage and saving choice will be much less.

sorry US but you are not making any sense - how many traders do you know? can you give me an example of hoe STOCKBROKERS have played a large part in destabalizing the HBOS group? Does it make you a bad person if you live in a nicer area than Southwark?

The patronising put downs of Lokki for example as I am " only " a mortgage broker and " only " live in Southwick.

Nothing as great as you Lokki , we could not do your job as you keep telling us time and time and time again. Oh I wish I was more like you. Sigh

The difference Unc is that I am not telling you the ins and outs of your job, because I don't know and wouldn't prsume to spout about it on a public forum. Yet everyone seems to be an expert on the financial crisis, based on what I have no idea, that's why his job was relevant. I wasn't having a pop.
Also, I wouldn't be seen dead in a Boxster.

Two things:
Firstly, nobody is having a pop at you for living in Southwick.
Secondly, nobody is having a pop at those on middle/lower incomes. It seems to me that Lokki is merely defending his industry in the face of some embarrassingly misinformed posts.

And why the f*** Uncle C is hanging on dwayne's every word, I'll never know. That kid is a known clown, FFS.

Anyway, remind me to bounce this thread next time somebody blames mortgage brokers for ridiculously high and unsustainable house prices. Afterall, you're happy enough to sell/broker mortgages that see people saddled with unrealistic debts aren't you. You MUST be to blame.

No I haven't. Quote me if I have. You are paranoid mate.

Edit: I should also point out that I have honestly never been to Southwick in my life and so have no idea what is like, nor do I care. I refered to a mortgage broker from Southwick in a post because you are eh... a mortgage broker with "location: southwick" on every post so I took a wild stab in the dark. Apologies if mentioning this is in some way offensive.

That sounds a lot but don't HBOS have in the region of £250bn on deposit? If so, £1bn looks a wee bit smaller.

Also, given the size of the HBOS savings book, there will be massive withdrawals on every single working day as part of their BAU. How much is usual for HBOS on a normal day? Just how exceptional is £1bn of withdrawals?

I'm sorry Gareth, but that just reads as someone with an incredible inferiority complex about their status in life, as well as someone who feels frustrated that others can continue to profit during these fragile economic times, whilst the chosen paths of others means they can not.

Chin up, eh - it will get better.

... for the firm and their investors that employs me."

That's the bit he didn't say.

Thats cause he is just the sort of person I despise and takes great pleasure in boasting about 'his' financial achievements and at the same time rubbing other peoples noses in it.

I will be the first to laugh if the chill wind in the City blows up his arse.

Because I have no idea who he is and his signature does not come with the warning "I am a clown ignore me"

Are there any other clowns I should be ignoring?

Fair comments there Simster.
