BAG: I thought he was on talk sport which is not part of the BBC. Yes you are right the people who did complain had the right to do so but I feel that the whole matter was blown out of all proportion. I like many more of my age had never heard the expression and had no reason to be offended by it although I have a brother in law who falls into that catergory.

The Argus took it mainstream, then it was picked up by the nationals. Once that happened the BBC were obliged to follow the code of conduct laid out by OFCOM.

If any blame can be laid, then it was at the feet of the two unfortunates who thought they would have a laugh using a derogatory (for some) term. Not unlike Prince Harrys' situation.

Lickergate probably gave him the shove he needed to move on. He was too good to be commentating on Tier 3 football and will grace bigger and better teams now I'm sure. Good luck to him, although I do miss his Albion commentaries.

To me its like weve let go yet another good player and he goes on to prove how wrong we was to let him go,so good luck to him.
