Not quite peaked in my 'pees per night' yet.

Try Cranberry tablets from Prowise (available on Amazon) - serious suggestion.
It may take a couple of weeks for them to make a difference.

Whaaaat, you have let her buy a mobile, sound like you are treating her extremely well. She is a lucky lady.

Welcome back @Mouldy.

Sporting and physicality - I have hopes of improving my skiing, also a martial art I do in non-lockdown times. Ever optimistic, in no way ready to accept a decline or ceiling. Combined with hopefully losing a bit of weight and getting generally fitter, a virtuous circle.

Work and mental agility - I like to think the former still improves with experience, but my memory has definitely declined in some ways post 50.

I know that my skiing peaked here on my favourite run with my son 8 years ago. I had it confirmed about 3 years later when I went back, took a look and bottled it. My knees can't even take long mogul fields these days and I used to love them

If you haven't done it yet, I can recommend it (maybe next season)

And I can't even remember when I mentally peaked

As you know Mouldy its less than 5 months to my 60th. Always be reasonable fit for my age. Before lockdown Squash twice a week, running maybe once or twice a week, only 1 to 6 miles. 6 to 8 miles walking at work.
BUT since lockdown, still walking 6 to 8 miles on working days, dog walking up to an hour a day. No enthusiasm for running and no Squash because of Covid.

Will be hard to get back into Squash when pandemic is over because of my age.
Running has been completely obliterated because of dog walking which i enjoy much more although i would like to do one more 10k to say i done a 10k in under 60 (minutes of course) at over sixty........under 60 4 over sixty.

I have noticed that i have 'felt my age' since about 55 when all my bomes started to ache after work and i have to push myself even to go for a walk for recreation. Worse thing about getting older is the 3 B's Back, Badder & Bowels. All three have gone downhill in the last 4or 5 years.

In conclusion i probably reached my peak 10 years ago but still try to keep fit and consider myself pretty good for my age.

Skiid that about 4 years ago when I was 58. I went skiing 13 months ago and struggled with my back. Sadly I doubt I'll ski again.

Moguls wreck knees. I've skied with some top coaches on clinics, who said that the 25 year olds you see expertly bombing down mogul fields with regularity, legs like pistons, all end up with bad knees sooner rather than later.

As an adult I've rarely played football or rugby, nor street run on hard payments, so my knees aren't too bad for my age. They feel older, but yoga's an amazing thing.

I have my recently scribbled list of places to ski once we can travel again, I can't wait. I like the whole mountains and snow thing, enjoying a large beer and a nice hotel.

What resorts did you visit in your ski travels?

@HWT, try yoga, you can do it from home online if you'd rather not go to a class. Taken seriously, it can be a quality of life game changer.

I tried some introductory yoga online when I came out of hospital last year. The idea was to build up my strength again. I didn’t really take to it and very quickly switched to the straight talking Joe Wicks although at the time I could only manage his sessions for the elderly ! Very good though.
Quite frankly my skiing days are definitely over for good ! Pre Covid we were considering going back to the Alps but for walking/snow shoeing.

The one area where I’ve reached my peak is in how I care about people and try to help them.

I’m trying my hardest to keep fit but a lifetime on the buildings has left me pretty unfit.

Always took my son running as a kid and he is now an elite sprinter so it pays to encourage them.

Another summer alternative, we did this for the first time last August in the Italian Sud Tirol, was staying in a nice hotel and using their e-bikes. Climbing huge mountain passes, but cheating with battery power as an aid on the hard bits.

60 years old is nothing mate.

I am thinking of starting a bootcamp up, for 50-70-year-olds.

On the agenda is:

Traction: height measurement taken before and after, biggest difference gets to meet BDB to be arranged.
Pint challenge: Who can down the most cranberry juice in 2mins.
Written essay: This would have a twist to add value. You would need to use a 9H pencil, gently gripped by the buttocks or rectum and the subject would be, who still plays squash.

So the result would be: back, bladder and bowels will feel like a 20-year-old.

Of course there would be a full money back guarantee, after rigorous testing from myself.

I think it was probably the 40 years of football and squash that wrecked mine. I had ops on them at 50 and had to give up squash, but still playing football and skiing albeit with knee supports (serious ones when I ski). I'm most impressed with Harry Wilson's tackle doing the Grand couloir at 58 as I was 5 years younger the last time I did it (and still 2 years younger when I bottled it !)

As to resorts, off the top of my head

Italy - Cavalese, Courmayeur, Sauze d'Oulx, Sestriere, Claviere, La Thuile
Andorra - Arinsal, El Tarter, Soldeau
Austria - Mayrhofen, Soll, St Anton, Scheffau, St Johan
Switzerland - St Moritz
France - Les Arcs, La Rosiere, La Plagne, Courchevel, Meribel, Les Deaux Alpes, Montgenevre, Val Thorens, Val D'isere, Tignes

I don't think I can count Chamonix although we did end up there when we skied the Vallee Blanche from Cormayeur and had to come back through the Mont Blanc tunnel

And I'm sure I've forgotten some. When the kids were young we tended to go to Andorra and Austria as the teaching and child care was so good. As the kids got older and better, it tended to be the massive linked resorts in France. And there are some favourites in there (I think we went to Les Arcs 2000 and 1950 5 or 6 times over the years).

I have skid a fair bit in France (not as much as you), Austrial once (thanks to Weststander's recommendation) and a fair bit in Canada when I lived there (Whistler, Sunshine, Lake Louise, Silver Star, and the 3 Vancouver resorts), but a place I really loved was Åre in Sweden. It is low altitude so you don't need any sun cream. And it is quiet. And there are no bat shit mental French twats. I went a couple of times but last time I looked into it there we no direct flights. Hopefully I can go again, if I get fitter.

Ironically my main concern last time I went was my right knee. After three meniscus tears, and now apparently an ACL with all the substance of Nora Battye's boiled knicker elastic, plus 'arthritic degradation', I'm eligible for a full knee replacement. So I bought a knee support (one recommended by a helpful NSC poster). The knee gave me absolutely no problems. But I got horrible back ache around the top of the pelvis, and never skiid past lunchtime. Still, I got the pool and the sauna to myself every afternoon. Maybe I'll take lessons if I go again - I'm self-taught and have all the style of porcelain khazi strapped to two tea trays and given a shove start. Perhaps a style tweak will transform me into latterday Jean-Claude Killy.

I agree with Westy about Moguls. Luckily I've always struggled with them so I avoid them.

Right, time to do a bit of actual work....
