I know a couple who have tested positive with no symptoms and then gone on to get ill. But none actually asymptotically. I think it was massively exaggerated to get people to comply with the lockdowns so the ‘but I don’t have the virus’ types didn’t go spreading it.

A 30 year old last month. He tested for a holiday and isolated without any symptoms.
My niece in California and my mates 17 year old daughter.

Has anybody ever met anyone how has had it asymptomatically? I’ve read that up to two thirds of people have it with no symptoms, but I think that’s complete nonsense. I know so many people who have had it, and all have had symptoms. I know you can say you wouldn’t know if you had it asymptomatically, but people are testing so much with lateral flows at the moment that surely it would have happened to somebody I know? Especially when I know at least twenty people who’ve had it with symptoms. I’m just not sure I believe it.

A friend of mine has just finished isolation and his whole family tested positive for coivid, that is three adults and one older teenager. They were asymptomatic and positive whilst he had a terrible flu thing and was the only one who continually tested negative.

Both my sons are at uni, in Brighton and Norwich. They both know students who have been asymptomatic.

Yes . I have it at the moment . Mainly I have a really sore throat but last Monday my nose would not stop running for 24 hours . I had the booster about a month ago so that saved from something worse .

Not yet, as far as I'm aware. Mind you, my wife and I (age 60 and 62) have tried to be careful and minimised the risks, due to vulnerabilities. I realise that isn't always easy for some people.

Reading people's real life experiences of Covid, a few of us have had it badly, but that was presumably delta or a previous version.

It's still early days with Omicron, but (correct me if I'm wrong), nobody who has it currently or recently, has had it severely? Note the usual caveats - early in the wave, small sample etc.

Have it at the moment. Double Jabbed which may have made it milder than some. Strangest thing was the taste or lack of it. Had a cookie and all I could taste was flour. Mouth still constantly dry like I'd been on the pi55 for days. Rough for a few days but nothing major. Just got to stick to the isolation rules I guess. Not gutted I missed the Wolves game though so could have been worse.

So a few people know people who have been asymptomatic then. But nothing like as many that have had symptoms. I reckon it’s more like 10% of people who don’t have symptoms.

I only know of 3 close old friends and 2 family members who have died because of covid,
I know for a fact 1 of those would not have died because of flu, and that to me is 1 to many

Not yet but 3 colds since July all negative on lateral flow tests . I still think working outside in the industry i'm in toughens your immune system up . I hope i never catch it but like Russian roulette you can't dodge the bullet forever ,i can't see life ever returning to pre covid .

Yea at the beginning of November, I had a headache stuffy nose and a bad back, the worst symptom by far was the boredom of isolation!
To be fair I’ve had far worse doses of man flu!
And Sod’s law I picked up a cold on Wednesday!!!

Indeed. It's astonishing how many people don't seem to get this. I had an argument with my own mother the other week because she refused to get a PCR test because she had 'just a cold' and 'would have felt much worse if it was Covid'. All while happily mixing in society and having people over for coffee etc. And she was a nurse for 30 years!! It's bizarre

I find it hard not to have some sympathy with the (admittedly useless) government, when they tell people this stuff over and over and over again and for some reason it still doesn't go in. If most people actually did what they were supposed to do, rather than doing as they please and then blaming the government / China / young people etc. then we'd be in a lot better place with this thing.

End of Feb 2020 I believe I had it, but no tests back then.
Cough so bad that the muscles under my rib cage were cramping up , at night when I lay down felt like someone was standing on my chest, temperature and dizziness felt so bad I quit smoking after 40 years……..so every cloud as they say !

But the kicker was loss of taste……..that didn’t become a symptom to look for till much later in the pandemic which leads me to believe that I had it then.
Oh and I carried on going to work as there was no isolation !!!

My son was compeltley asymptomatic as far as we could tell. Most kids are reportedly, but many of his age we know had symptoms.

I was symptom-free when I tested positive, but after a few days I had what felt like a very heavy cold which lingered on for quite a while. It may have just been a very heavy cold of course, but as I'd just got over one of thsoe, I assumed it was Covid doing it's thing on me.

I had Covid in the summer and am still not fully over it yet.

I had 2 jabs, no underlying health issues yet after a week was unconscious on the lounge floor, in hospital for a week, blood/oxygen at 85, it was truly awful.

I had 2 months off work, still not back 100% and still have loss of taste, and chest/breathing issues that have required several scans and checks to help resolve. Still going through that process so it’s ongoing.

I always wore a mask, worked at home, tried to limit my risks wherever possible, no flights etc etc

What gets me a bit is that it seems to polarise people’s views and plenty can get sanctimonious about it. Comments I have heard include things like ‘oh I had Covid, but it’s just like a bad cold or flu’ - it may be like that for some but it absolutely is not like that for everyone, so please don’t think your limited view covers all the examples. Another classic is ‘you only got it because you didn’t take care or were run down anyway’ - what bollocks that comment also is. Or another one from my brother in law ‘I have a really strong immunity hence why I didn’t catch it’ - bull**** again.

Covid seems to be used by some to express to the world how great their lifestyle is, how sensible they are in avoiding it, how knowledgeable they are about all aspects of Covid being just a glorified man flu, how strong they are in terms of immunity and, by definition, how crap you must be on all these fronts if you caught it.

That week in hospital was the worst of my life. When I look at football crowds, including on Wednesday, it makes me cringe seeing so many people almost tempting fate by ignoring basic steps to avoid catching it, probably the same people who are making the same comments as those quoted above.

According to Meaghan Kali of UKHSA with the Omicron growth as it is, we're very close to maxing out lab capacity for PCR processing, and has mooted that we may need to stop doing confirmatory PCRs so they can be targeted where they are really needed...

I am absolutely convinced I had it November 2019 before it was a 'thing' - but obviously no tested so no idea. Since then no I don't believe so despite attending all games at the Euros, plenty of socialising etc
