Be interesting to see how many of you still aren't on facebook or simply chose not be and go down other routes such as twitter.

I have a facebook which I check every day and post a status probably once every 2 or 3 days if I'm in the mood.

Also, how many friends have you got? I had 500 but trimmed it down to 125 recently, deleting everyone who I didn't really know and added me just because they are in my year at school. Also deleted a load of annoying girls too, gosh they are so bitchy on facebook:rant:

How old are you? Because this reads like you're very young.

And no, I recently deleted it having not used it for years and hearing everything private on there would be made public with the new timeline thing.

I have Facebook and Twitter (everyone follow me) but use facebook less and less now. I have i think 700 friends but i doubt i talk to 90% of them.

I had a Facebook account but the only people I wanted to be friends with were the people I'm already friends with. Given they can already contact me on my mobile phone and I have an email address it seemed a bit pointless to be honest. So I closed it down after about 3 weeks of being bothered by people I do not want to be bothered by.

I have a Facebook account and use it regularly.

It's just another avenue of communication, very useful for organising events and especially for keeping in touch with people who live far away; far more so than email.
Not sure why anyone would be 'proud' not having one - it's like being proud of not having an email address or a mobile phone.

People who don't use it often seem to have the misconception that those that do will then ONLY communicate with the outside world via Facebook and lose all real social interaction, whereas my experience is that I (and everyone I know) use it primarily to arrange to meet up with my friends in 'real' life.

There's no more information about me on my facebook page than I would be happy to tell a complete stranger. If people put personal info on there then that's their choice but it's hardly the fault of Facebook

Was going to say...If you live abroad, its very handy for viewing pics etc...and generally keeping in touch....and its a bit less sterile than just communicating via emails and phone.

Facebook account yes, use minimal to find lost associates/friends, don't put anything there I don't deem as private as the data privacy is completely non-existent and to be honest probably illegal outside of the USA.
Twitter - no, I really don't care if some spotty 12 year old is going for a shit, just don't get it.

Never tried any others and I do find it contradictory that some people refer to them as improving communication when you are sat behind a keyboard pressing keys instead of out meeting face to face (I understand this is not the cases for all).

All of that. It's an excellent way of keeping in touch with friend's and family if you don't live in the same area/country.

Apart from privacy concerns or just not being interested in it a lot of the reasons people give for it being shit make me laugh. Especially when you read them on an internet message board.

Yes but I find it depressing so hardly ever go on there. People saying how great their lives are or when they've just had a dump or cleaned their teeth etc. Not to mention all the plastic Premier League team 'fans'. It's for voyeurs and attention seekers.

NSC makes me laugh far more and feels more down-to-earth.

I wouldn't describe myself as a voyeur or an attention seeker, and to be honest, I can't recall a single time any of my friends have ever posted about having a dump or cleaning their teeth. On here however...

I do not have a facebook or twitter account because i am totally resistant to change in my life. God only knows what would happen if something came along to make my life easier or add a little more fun to my life. I could not think of anything worse than adding a new dimension to my social outlets. Imagine if someone came up with something where everyone could communicate with greater ease................like the internet. That would be a terrible day.

The people i find annoying on facebook are the ones that post things like "really pissed off" or "sad today" in the hope that a lot of their friends ask them "whats the matter". Always makes me laugh when nobody replies to their posts
