Fishing boat plenty of times, with plenty playing watch the horizon game attempting to overcome bad sea sickness
we are heading from Southampton to the Fjords so technically I will be passing Brighton on Friday evening the 26th july sometime.
I'm interested in what else you could sail past on other than a boat?

I was a crew member (Missileman) on HMS Brighton the time you are talking about, and i did show some cadets around the ship. would have been April 79, we sailed from Brighton after about 4 days for 4 months out the Carribean,

Might have done in my Submarine days in the Royal Navy but funnily enough the skipper never gave me a shout when we had The Palace Pier off the Starboard side ?
Warspite came with our taskgroup to the far east, and didnt surface until Cape Town... pretty easy to spot the pasty faced members of her crew ashore haha..
Actually, some old sub surfaced next to the Ark in mid Atlantic, and the crew came on board for showers,...jesus....I understand you can just get posted to these deathtraps now? Was a volunteer service still, when I was in RN
