I had my clavicle broken when I was six years old. The worst bit was when the nurses tried to put the bandage on and they got it wrong they had to unstick it (it was adhesive) and do it all over again.

Broke a leg in a motorcycle accident when I was about 20, got taken to hospital where they x-rayed my wrist, which was also hurting, but said there was nothing wrong with my leg, apart from a big hole in the knee.

Only subsequently found out my leg had been broken around 3 months later, when my leg gave way from under me - after again x-raying I was advised that it was healing nicely but a little out of true, and if I wanted they could always re-break it for me - I kindly declined!

My son currently has a broken leg due to a motorcycle accident and lost 4" of the bone between the knee and the ankle and they are currently growing it back with a aylor spatial frame.
Awesome piece of meccano/ metal work.
The surgeon admitted 20 years ago they would not have been able to do anything and he would have lst it, Medical science is fantastic.

Yes. I'll spare you the gory details, but being hit by a car full in the face does lead to a bit more than just a scratch. I just have to be careful when I walk past a scrap metal dealership!

Broke a wrist at primary school falling off the gym equipment.
Chipped my collar bone in a skiing crash around 1980.
Broke my right arm badly when a lump of the Matterhorn fell on me in 1986.
Broken rib from some lump elbowing me in 5 a side match around 1990.
Broke a metatarsal before it became popular playing 5 a side around 2000.

Plenty of scars from other accidents, most notably a huge one on my left shin from falling onto a train (not drunk - it was icy!) in the mid 90s.
The rock that broke my arm also left some nice scars on my right leg.

At school, I was known as accident prone. Things haven't improved much.

I splintered my wrist when I was in school playing bloody rounders of all games.

Slipped on the grass, went head over heel and landed on my hand at a weird angle.

Stupid school nurse only sent me to hospital when it became clear I couldn't do my tie. Never mind the hand being at a different angle to the arm.

How was I to know she was going to raise her foot in the air just as I threw a huge pebble into the tranquil Mediterranean Sea? Put a dampener on the holiday....

Ankle Fusion 2014

Hey Hiney, was this your sub-talar joint?

I've had ongoing left ankle joint problems for best part of 50 years now - various football-related ankle-ligament injuries but the real issue is 45 years of bowling fast cricket balls [gradually getting slower as the weight gained over the years] - anyways, now got an appointment with the specialist orthopaedic hospital at Gobowen. I think they are going to offer an arthroscopy flush-out first but the final option is joint fusion. I've yet to find anyone who has been able to do any kind of active sport after a S-T fusion. Would love to know your experience ....

Accidents, way more than I can remember or care to count - and I consider myself quite safety conscious now.
In terms of breaks - given the years I rode and raced (and crashed) motorcycles, I think I got off very lightly.
Left wrist & left thumb socket smashed / pinned
Lots of "gravel rash" - leathers all very well but the friction still leaves its mark ...

I've broken my nose a fair few times, Boxing, football and too much talking when I should have been listening.

I had a nose job in the early Eighties, because it was broken so badly and the night I got out of Hospital, I was hit in the face with a pool cue, and messed it all up again. When I went back to the Surgeon to review it, he told me if he got my nose right, they'd then have to do my chin, then my eyes, then my ears, and, lets face it,I was always going to be ugly!

So, I'm officially ugly, confirmed by a Captain Surgeon in the Royal Navy
