True love indeed, Willow.

I don't think I've ever been out with a 'football fan' girlfriend, and that doesn't bother me at all. Experiences of taking various other halves to the match have been mixed.

One long-time girlfriend only saw Brighton twice, once at the Goldstone when she developed a fixation with Nicky Rust, and the other away to Chester on a sort of double date with Pavilionaire and his bird. The women seemed to want to carry on walking around the walls of Chester at about 2.30pm on the Saturday, which obviously didn't go down well and the whole thing was a bit tense. For that and some other reasons - like we ended up hating each other - it didn't last.

One other girlfriend came to Gillingham once, but that was I think because she was a bit insecure and wanted to make sure I was actually driving stupid distances to watch my crap team somewhere nasty with my similarly insane mates, rather than shagging one of her mates.

And the best experience by far was a girl I saw briefly while at Uni in Sheffield. I drove to all the northern away games, and it didn't even occur to me she would want to come to Blackpool away. But she asked to come, saying 'we could go to the football and then make a dirty weekend of it'. To this day, I've never heard that line bettered.
