I'm not sure about a corner being turned.. I am not sure that last night's performance was much different overall than many others we have had, including Fulham. In both recent wins, we didn't make any silly mistakes, but scored presentable chances, albeit last night we missed the most presentable of all! I know those who appear to want GP Out will remain unconvinced and I understand that given I wouldn't have changed my opinion had we lost last night or indeed to Fulham. I have said on other threads, my confidence comes not from how we perform in the games against the immediate rivals.. the upcoming games against Burnley, West Brom, Newcastle and Sheff United will be hard-fought, close games, likely to be draws and will give those who doubt GP more opportunities to question. We will not suddenly turn into a team that finds it easy to break teams down who sit and invite us on. very few PL sides do. However, i think we are, so far anyway, better equipped to get points and wins against teams higher up in the league.

More than a point from next two, and we can perhaps just shuffle towards the corner and risk peeping round.

The big win is defence; despite all the understandable cries about poor finishing, the fact is that we are worse off then previous seasons is conceding more goals. The system and personnel look strong all of a sudden. I was impressed last night with the defensive lines (midfield as well as defence) as soon as Spurs had the ball.

The corner that still beckons is finishing, and nothing really in last 3 to say this has been nailed; 1-0s will probably be enough to stay up with the current 7 point margin (Palace & Burnley specialise in them), but for me corner turning will be evident once we see 2+ goal victories with result never in doubt for last 30+ minutes. And we are not there yet.

Spurs and Leeds were missing talisman players and were gash; Fulham are 3rd from bottom for a reason.

I must admit that at the beginning of last week I thought we would beat Fulham and, hopefully, scrape a draw against Spurs at best. Oh well, we got there in the end.

Yes, the Fulham and West Brom boards must be like a funeral this morning. More so if any of them watched last nights game.

If I was supporting them, i'd be looking at Burnley as the most likely to get sucked in, the Newcastle, then us, then Wolves. I think the bookies broadly agree with this.

Either way Fulham or West Brom are going to need some serious form to get up into the mid 30's, which they would probably need. I can't see it and if they lose a couple more games, I expect to see heads starting to drop and getting relegated by a long way

I think you and the bookies need to pay closer attention to the staying up tracker thread..
Wolves have missed a lot of opportunities for points and sit 4 pts behind us on the tracker, whilst Burnley are 2 pts ahead of us.

We have turned a corner in terms of results, yes.

But in terms of performances we haven't, because we've performed consistently well all season. The difference now is we are turning our performances into results. Our game management has improved drastically.

There will be frustrating days to come still, but hopefully they won't prompt the knee-jerk 'Potter out' cries that a minority of short sighted fans love to regurgitate every time a game doesn't go our way. I won't hold my breath.

I think you could be right about the Wolves game being pivotal.

It was a strange match, we were about even, no way deserved to be 3-1 down. At the end after we finished 3-3 I felt it was a really good marker of team spirit. If players want a manager out, or aren’t happy for various reasons. They had a perfect opportunity to down tools. But no, they fought for the team and for the manager and the reactions at that game said it all.

Since then we have been galvanised.

But at the same time, I genuinely feel we’ve played well in most games this season without getting what we deserve. Souness put it well last night i think “as a football man I look at what Brighton are doing and think sooner or later they’re going to turn the corner maybe tonight they have. The manager and coaching staff deserve huge credit for never deviating from the way they want to play”. Eventually our performances had to translate into points.

Performances have been the best out of our 4 seasons in the prem... (I think this is the 4th) - but they said our points were the lowest before last night out of all 4 - not sure about now. I think it shows we’re actually building well - slower than we’d hoped - and we’ve been unlucky and also not clinical enough...

The only conclusion can be that they’re gutted we won, so that some ridiculous agendas can’t be peddled.

Yes, the team that didnt take a single point in 12 games off the "top 6" in our first season has now beaten Spurs, Munure and Arsenal twice. We've stopped the trashings that ManC and Liverpool gave us in the early days too ,even finally getting our first point against 'pool at home. Even the Mancity loss by 1-0 was amazing when you consider they had beaten other teams near the top 4-0/4-1 . We still havent found an answer for Chelsea who seem to always get the better of us.

If anything we need to re-learn how to grind out wins against the teams in the lower half of the table. These team that come here to defend, hope to catch us on the break and stiffle our free-flowing passing game. The only 2 games we really were never in were the 4-2 against Everton who at the time were riding on a cloud of being in the top2 and Leicester who once they scored the first went riot and we were beaten by half time, but that was an outlier in an otherwise promising but equally frustrating first half of the season. As others have mentioned, something magical must have happenned in the half-time team talk at Wolves (in fact i recall Maupay mentioned HE gave the half time talk!) which inspired a spirited comeback and a run of pretty decent performances.

Have we turned the corner - definitely yes but could it turn back again - of course. I dont think we will have long to wait. By the end of this month, after Liverpool we will have played Burnley, Villa, Palace and West Brom - a very plausible 8 points+ there. Get that and we would be up to 29 points with 9 more likely needed from the last 14 games to play
