Have just had lunch with a director of The Buckingham group.

I had an interesting conversation with one of the directors of the Buckingham group who advised me that planning permission to add an extra tier to the East stand is going to be withdrawn due to the fact a structural engineers believe that the foundations would need to be dug deeper to support the extra weight. One idea might be to pump concrete under the stand as one would do in cases of subsidence. Is there anyone on NSC who is a structural engineer who can shed further light on the matter?

Why would a director of Buckinghams be eating Sunday lunch at Macdonalds?

is this a classic case of wwwwhhhooooooooossssshhhhhh
... as in not recognising one of Hugo's wind-ups?

The giveaway is his claim that he's heard that the planning application is to be "withdrawn". That would be really stupid, since the existence of construction issues (eg the need to do some on-site building work) is the reason why most planning applications are made.

I was at this lunch. Hugo is a very very poor second Wine Waiter.

Next week Hugo will tell us he worked with Nick Leeson at Willis!

they don't need planning permission. The only thing they need is proof that they can hold a sustainable transport system.
