Toby Agdestein was on target twice as Albion's development squad beat Havant and Waterlooville 3-0 in a friendly at Westleigh Park today.

George Barker opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a diving header from a Ryan Simmonds cross.

The move was started by right winger Andre Landell, back on trial from Wolves after featuring for the reserves last season.

Agdestein doubled the lead in the 64th minute. The free-scoring Norwegian striker lobbed the keeper after latching onto a clever chip from summer recruit from Chelsea Anton Rodgers, son of Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers.

Agdestein calmly slotted his second and Albion's third nine minutes from time.

Albion (4-1-3-2): Poke; Strong, Cook (Hall 46), Vickers (Sherriff 51), Sampayo; Rodgers, Landell (Pett 57), Redwood (Hayward 57), Simmonds; Agdestein, Barker. Sub not used: East.

I reckon the Development Squad concept must be costing us in excess of £1m a year to maintain so I bet Gus and Tony can't wait for some of these lads to break through. As they are playing the same style as the first team squad the chances of a few of them making it at Championship level (and even higher?) must be greatly improved from the old days when nothing linked up.

He has afew ahead of him tho, but I agree. For me he is one of the most exciting dev squad players, cant wait to see him break into the sqaud.

Anybody from here go? How did we play aside from the scoreline?

We kept the ball well and passed it about through a weak Havant midfield, all of the goals were well taken whilst poke made some great saves. Simmonds and agdestien looked dangerous every time they got the ball and the defence delt adequately with havants front men. All in all a good performance and I reckon Toby and simmons may get chances in the cup this year

Just got back - good neat football - well oiled team
Didn't seem to need to get out of 2nd gear against a labouring havant side !
We played very much in the gus style - a joy to watch although a home supporter did shout at one time " oh you can go forward then " lol

Good performance, but I think the Havant side was made up of mostly youth team players and trialists rather than a run out of their normal first team (with only 1 normal first team player, and then another who has had a year off injured), just for some perspective.
