Seem to be the new thing around these parts , have they hit the mean streets of Brighton yet or is it just a Essex thang .

That appears to potentially be many things, none of which are a hat.

1 - The arm of a sofa.

As a turd, it would be impressive. As a hat, not so.

There are three types of people when it comes to hats.

1. People who genuinely pull them off.

2. People who are blissfully unaware that they look ridiculous (the majority of hat wearers).

3. People who know they look ridiculous and avoid them at all costs (I am in this camp).

I don't have a hat head and look bloody stupid in them.
I can get away with a bandana, but my kids say that I look like a bikie when I wear one.
I've got a very wide brimmed straw hat for at home working in the garden for obvious reasons, but always get laughed at when wearing it.

I have a few hats - A Tilley sun hat and Tilley Winter hat which both come in handy in extreme weathers. For everything else I have my flat cap. I look at photos of times gone by and regret how hat usage has declined so much. Whether a hat actually suits me I have no idea - probably not
