I took Naylors comment to mean that as the club looked like missing out on any more significant signings, the club got Bobby in as a last resort to deflect criticism and shut up the whingers.
And now get back in the real world, do you think a man as astute as our Tony gives a shite about a few moaners?I took Naylors comment to mean that as the club looked like missing out on any more significant signings, the club got Bobby in as a last resort to deflect criticism and shut up the whingers.
Hughton said on the FL72 live thingy that this had been on our minds for "some time". Bobby has also said he was holding out for this, he wouldn't have done that in the desperate hope the phone might ring, this one has been on the pipeline for some time.Depends what he means by 'contact' is this the official approach as I had heard Bobby had made it clear at start of summer he was interested in a return but the club were unsure about his hip issues. I imagine there has been unofficial dialogue for some weeks but the official offer was received in last few days
Basically, it's Naylor's way of saying "I was right all summer in saying nothing was happening, the club just changed their mind on Friday". Purely a way of retaining some credibility (which I can understand)

This is the way I view it.
Except BZ contradicts him by saying he was "holding out for Brighton". So someone's not telling the truth.
Instead, him signing four days before the first game of the season smacks of desperation on both sides.
You were watching Live92 this morning from the training ground and an brief interview with BZ, weren't you, as was I. He seemed very happy and CH confirmed it was all done very quickly mostly due to BZ being so keen.
My information is that Mr Naylor is and was correct. Zamora was on the radar but not high up the list of targets. If he had been, the deal could have been done a long time ago and BZ could have had a pre-season with us and sold a load more shirts and season tickets.
Instead, him signing four days before the first game of the season smacks of desperation on both sides. I presume and hope that the contract is heavily loaded towards appearances - and, obviously, that we end up paying out!
Sounds to me AN is covering his back a bit. Gotta feel a little for him, he's lost his contacts and is being shot down time after time in public. I've no beef with him, I've just unfollowed him as Bozza and (one or two on )NSC know more.
Zamora had mentioned to a few people (including our resident airport man on here) that he wanted to come back but that he'd heard that Hughton wasn't hot on it.
Didn't Virgo intimate something on Sunday that Hughton wasn't sure?

As usual Naylor has no idea what he is talking about.Naylor said there was no contact from the club until last Friday.
No I wasn't watching it.
