Was the ref being a bit of a twat today ? There was only 3 minutes plus stoppage time to go so why didn't the ref just give him a lecture instead of a 2nd yellow ? On the commentary it was mentioned that the Oldham captain (Gregan ?) was spoken to by the ref as some of the younger Oldham players were giving him too much verbal , so was Whings card to show all the players who was in charge ? 7 yellow cards looks like it was a dirty game.

I assume picking up a 2nd yellow = Red will mean he will miss the last (next) 3 matches.

He's a key player and has been doing a splendid job, even catching the eye for possible player of the season votes.

Well he ain't getting my vote now - what a dumb thing to do !!

If anything, Andrew Whing has EARNED us that lifeline. His full-on commitment has maybe shamed a couple of the other players into at least trying to do the same.

Player Of The Season by a country mile.

Whing knows he did wrong but he plays with passion and was choked as he walked off. He had played well - the applause was to let him know that we are right behind him. Sometimes spontaneous applause has no reason, but just sums up the atmosphere.

at only 25 years old the ref has no chance - an assessor will watch his every move, so he just follows the rules. Knocking the ball away is a yellow card offence - it's only when a ref gets near to retirement that he can start using his discretion cos he's got less to lose.

Ref was throwing yellow cards around like confetti. That can't be right. Wasn't even a dirty game. It was inevitable that somebody was eventually going to get a second yellow. Sod's law it was Andrew Whing.

Am i right in thinking it is a 3 match ban because it is his 10th yellow?

10th yellow is normally a 2 match ban but the deadline was last week - as of now they don't count. i guess you're suggesting that there would also be a 1 match extra ban because of the red card though.

Yes I was thinking about what had happened to Virgo a few weeks ago
