Next two games v Fulham and Sheffield United starting to look ominously as important as the two games under CH straight off the back of the FA Cup SF

IN!!!!

I have had conversations with numerous Southampton fans who have told me they got lucky against us last Monday.

Yesterday we had a bad day against a very, very good team.

I might get a bit worried depending on what we do against Fulham and Sheff. Utd.

Yep, I have spoken to the most smug saints fan and he admitted they were lucky.

Saints, fans are currently happy they did not swing the axe on Ralph, because they could see what he was trying to do and it is all now coming to fruition.

Albion fans need to think bigger on this one.

Saints also had Danny Ings.

But Webster and Dunk weren't going to be sold, while Burn doesn't really have 'value'.

So realistically the either/or is either sell White or don't buy Veltman.
ATM neither option seems too palatable.

I neither agree nor disagree that point - However taking you at your word. If he has no value you the fact that he is playing in defence ahead of a £20m player. That begs the question why is he playing there occasionally when White could slip into tat position ?

I don't have the answers to all this. It's just my appraisal and thought on a situation that I think is strange that what I would anticipate was the best Central Defence position, might not be happening.

I think you have ''Bamboozled'' me but I knew what I was trying to say initially but I am now lost :drink:

Total nonsense, you have absolutely no knowledge that he's lost the dressing room at all and there are no leaks anywhere even slightly suggesting this and as the poll shows, not all fans have lost faith in Potter either.

What absolute garbage! The evidence is clear to see that he's lost the faith of the players. The poll shows that many many people are now on the fence, won't take much more to push these to the out camp. That's when it'll start getting toxic, pretty quickly. Unfortunately for Potter and the club that's coinciding with fans attending games again.

What evidence? You can't just use results.. what specifically have you read, heard, or seen that says the evidence is "clear"? I could argue the reverse.. Not capitulating following poor 1st half last night, fighting back in games against the "big boys" , the comments from players after the games.. they suggest otherwise.. unless it is just your belief, which is no worse or better informed than mine or others, but is hardly evidence and certainly not clear..

Sorry I should have come at your point from a different direction, as I said much the same the other day.

'I don't think the defence is missing x - Potter just hasn't got x, y & z in the right order'.

Hence me then bristling at the prospect of losing a player.
If the positions can be nailed down then the team absolutely needs the 5 players currently available, to see out the season.

At the end of my tether
Managers have been sacked for less, but I am not calling for his head. For one thing, can we afford to? He is on a long contract.. the club’s finances have taken a big hit due to Covid. I want a successful club but most importantly one that is financially sound.

Also we need to be balanced and not panicking . A run of bad results can be changed . A couple of wins changes everything.

Yeah, he's playing all the right players but not necessarily in the right order. :lolol:

Please elaborate?

To pick a couple of the most obvious ones (imo).

* We are 13th in the PL table for Goals Scored, 9th in the table for Shots, 6th to Hit the Woodwork, 6th Big Chances Missed.
- This could mean both our place in the table is a run of bad luck and may be corrected in time, and/or our striker coaches need to come up with a better training plan.

* Mat Ryan is 19th/20 for GK Saves this year and 12th for 'High Claims'.
- Does that refute the claims 'he's too short' and put the onus on our defenders, and as above, do our GK coaches need to come up with a revised training plan.

* Lallana and Izzy are/have been injured for a lot (and all) of the season so far, they are key players (imo) and may have had an affect in lost/drawn games (though this is purely an opinion).

My point being, I don't believe waving a magic want and replacing GP with An. Other will rectify the above. And I believe the above are the key issues.

Though I must state, I'm not convinced on GP, I'm definitely on the fence due to some team selection and general formation questions.

In as I'm a big fan of the free-flowing football that Potter's brought.

That said, there are still big questions to be answered regarding set pieces and our finishing.

GP will need to resolve those as a matter of urgency or risk losing the goodwill that his style of football has delivered.
