Pleasantly surprised at that poll result. On the Potter thread I’ve actually had pretty ****ish abuse for defending the job he’s done. To the point I haven’t even bother replying. And smarmy patronising bellends like THPP. To the point I’m done with even discussing it. But good to see many are keeping the faith. But, in my opinion he needs to have faith in his own football philosophy like he did at the beginning of the season. How on earth can we play slick, quick, passing football with four natural CBs and slower midfield players like Pascal Gross. At the moment it's a half-arsed attempt at passing football that's getting us nowhere.

Let's get back to Trossard and Alzate from the start please, with Maupay and Connolly pairing up front.

That's why I think Potter isn't a great manager. He wants us to play like Real Madrid. Don't we all. But our players aren't capable of. And likely never will be. Got to win ugly sometimes. Find a different formula. It's not as if we win prettily either. We draw beautifully sometimes, give him that. But is that good enough? Draw or lose away regularly and lose at home consistently and you're relegation certainties.

The big question is who do you replace him with - there aren't a lot of 'suitable' candidates out there - the obvious one to me would be Allardyce but he has given no indication that he would be interested in a return to management.

Dour? Laughable. Did they have no fire in their bellies when they went toe to toe with Liverpool two weeks ago and fought back to draw? Tonight was a sound beating by one of the best teams in the league. It happens.

I would be as much against sacking Potter as I was against the sacking of Hughton.

The jury is still out on Potter - but you don't sell the farm on changing the playing style and the type of players you are recruiting just to sack the manager when things get rocky.

However this could be a really tough season - I always felt that Hughton would keep Brighton up two seasons ago - but Potter's style of play does not lend itself to a relegation dog-fight. The next couple of games are crucial and Potter needs to create distance between Brighton on the 3 teams below (I think we will see Burnley - with Dyche's experience and the takeover being completed - starting to pull their way out of trouble, as they did today). Unless results spiral out of control then you have to stick with him.

He did. He had an average night. One great save, one could have done better. I don't get the Ryan out campaign. He's a classy keeper. That's not to say we can't do better. But with Burn lumbering like some giant girl guide out to his left, I'd be more worried about the capabilities of those that are covering him. And White and Dunk should have also done better for the 1st goal. Dunk seems to be having a quite season so far. Hope he gets back to form, maybe it's because he has too many partners and changes around him every week? Who knows.

My character is a lot like Potter's so I won't fault him on a personal level, but your post does contain truth. Did you see Schmeichel roaring at his defenders in anger with five minutes to go because they let a cross come in unchallenged? At 3-0 up? Would love to see a bit of that. We need some of that Ryan-Dunk-Duffy love of a couple of years ago to return (obviously minus big Shane).
